Guest guest
Has anyone ever had a problem with their child not responding to therapy for torticollis? My 3 1/2 year old son was born with it but responded very well to the therapy. I'm now going through the same thing with my 4 mo. old daughter and she's extremely stubborn about it. She's already over 16 lbs and very strong for her age so she tenses up to the point that it's very difficult to turn her head and I'm afraid of hurting her. The physical therapist is telling me she thinks a helmet would be best for our daughter at this point because she will probably not stop sleeping on the left side of her head any time soon but our insurance does not cover it. I really had a difficult time getting Aetna to cover the helmet for my son and now the helmet place is telling me the our current insurance UHC doesn't cover the helmets at all. Anyone have any experience with this and how to get them to cover the helmet without me spending hours on the phone yelling at them? We don't see the plastic surgeon until the 22nd of this month but I have a feeling she is going to need the helmet and I'm dreading going through the whole process again. Any advice to make it easier this time around would be nice.
