Guest guest
My daughter, is 3 days shy of 7mo old. We had our eval at Cranial Tech. today for Plagio. has mild brachycephaly. She meets the criteria to band, but just barely. The back of he head is flat (more noticable when her hair is wet), but she has a ton of hair which hides it well. We need to make the decision on whether or not to band. My fear is, if we do not band, her brachycephaly may not improve, with normal developmental milestones, to a point where her head looks " normal " and by then, it will be too late to correct. Has anyone else had to make this decision for a mild case? Are there any other options out there? Thank you, Kelli
Guest guest
Kelli, After being 4 weeks into the process (my daughter is 5 1/2 months, I am so glad I did. We saw improvement with CT within 10 days of banding and already her flat spot is almost completely gone (we've been told we'll be done at 6 or 7 weeks). She has barely noticed wearing it and it has been much easier than my fears and the CT people have been amazing (even meeting me at the car for an adjustment when we couldn't go in the waiting room due to illness). Trust your instincts - you'll know what's best - but I look back at all my worries and indecision and wished someone had told me that it can be just a really smooth process. My daughter was moderate (our ins. criteria was 6 mm and 2 SD and she was 13 mm and 4 SD) even though people all the time told me they never noticed and made me second guess whether it was necessary. If my next child is right on the line, we will band again. I am obviously very happy with the results. 5 month old daughter in Doc Band for 4 weeks now - Dallas Texas > > My daughter, is 3 days shy of 7mo old.
