Guest guest
I don't know of any specialists in NY but I think you are doing the right thing by getting a second opinion. I did the same thing and now my son is in a DOC band and I am so glad I did it. Good luck, Sybiltparusheva <tparusheva@...> wrote: Hello, I believe my son has a flat spot on his back, but the pediatrics is telling me that as he starts sitting and moving more it will fix itself. He is 5 months old, and I have been trying reposition therapy for the past 2 months, but I do not think is getting any better. Every appointment I have with the pediatrics I am asking the same question and they say it is fine. I am afraid that it will not fix and then it will be too late to do anything. I had the same problem when I was little so my parents did not treat me, and now i have slight bump on my back (thanks got for hair). Can you recommend me a specialist in NYC. I tried talking to the pediatrics to recommend me somebody but they assured me is not necessary. I guess I need to hear it from somebody else and be sure that I did everything I am supposed to as a new mom.Any information will be greatly appreciated. Guest guest
Hi - Your situation sounds similar to mine.. You need to demand a referral. It is your right. I live in Long Island and after many disputes with my pediatrician, finally got a referral to doctor Schneider. He is a pediatric neurosurgeon and ultimately gave me the prescription for my daughter's helmet. You can search him on the internet. He is very well known and is the Chief Neurosurgeon at Schneider's Children Hospital. You will probably find the address and phone number to his office on the internet. I can't find it right now, but if you search the internet and cannot find it, then let me know and i will get his info for you. Dr. Schneider will probably refer you to Hanger in Farmingdale to get the helmet, but i would suggest you tell him that you want to go to Cranial Technologies in Paramus NJ. , NYSybil Lusardi <sybillusardi@...> wrote: I don't know of any specialists in NY but I think you are doing the right thing by getting a second opinion. Guest guest
I agree with , do not use the hanger go to Cranial Tech in NJ. You can also go to cranial Tech in NJ before you go to the neurologist to get measurements and a free consultation. I would make an appointment. NUmber is 201-265-8142. Ask Darren for an appointment with Purvi Patel, she is the most senior orthotist and worked wonders with my son. (we banded on Oct 31 and graduated Dec 31st) We were also told no need to worry it will round out- we asked the ped for a referral to a neurologist and got one. We saw Dr, Khorode (she is located in Bethpage next to the old grumman offices) she is affiliated with Winthrop Hospital. Her number is 937-3511. She was so nice and gave us the perscription that day. She did not pass judgment on our decision and was helpful and kind. We went to cranial the next day or so and were measured at severe. Can you believe, they told us not to act.! Well, glad that my mommy instint led me to Cranial Tech. and a few other moms did not like the hanger on LI. I drove an hour each way for my son and would do it again in a heartbeat. He looks great. So, call Dr. Kharode and get an appointment (can take a month or so but ask for a cancellation) and make an appointment at Cranial Tech for the free consult with Purvi before that so you can have the numbers and be able to discuss with the doctor. Good Luck and email if you need anything else. Hello, I believe my son has a flat spot on his back, but the pediatrics is telling me that as he starts sitting and moving more it will fix itself.
