Guest guest
We reside in Wisconsin and are fortunate have both Cranial Technologies and Hanger at Children's Hosp. in our back yard. I would be interested in hearing pros and cons of the DOC Band and STAR Band. Guest guest
We had a great experience with the DOC band... CT is very professional, knowledgable, caring, helpful. Their office is very clean and kid friendly. They are the leaders in the field when it comes to banding babies. I actually liked the fact that CT is only trained to band babies rather than having a wide range of orthotics and ages of patients that they work with. Also, casting isn't that bad. I honestly can't think of any cons. Since we didn't use STAR I can't speak of pros or cons of their band. Good luck in your decision. lisa > > > > I am in Charlotte,NC and have decided to go with Hanger Prosthetics > and > > Orthotics,Inc. over Cranial Technologies,Inc. Guest guest
Hi, I am in Cleveland and also had a choice between Hanger and CT. If you haven't done so already, I would ask exactly how many kids they had actually seen in their Hanger office. Our Hanger office told me they had seen less than 10 kids in 2 years. That did not sound like enough experience to me. We decided to go with CT after we heard that bit of information and have been really happy with our choice. Our 8 month old son has been in his DOCband for 8 weeks and we've been pleased with our results. Good luck to you! > > I am in Charlotte,NC and have decided to go with Hanger Prosthetics and > Orthotics,Inc. over Cranial Technologies,Inc. I am not sure I made the > right decision. Guest guest
Hi all, I felt uneasy about my decision to go with Hanger after I had a day to think about the two clinics. I found out on Thursday that our local [Hanger] office only sees about 20 or so kids a year...that made me even more anxious. I then started to carefully compare the information provided by both clinics; thought about what transpired at both appointments; talked with a nurse practitioner at the pediatric neurosurgeon's office, and ultimately made the decision to proceed with Cranial Technologies(CT). I was frantic that my daughter was going to have to wait another couple of weeks to get into CT because they are so busy. Luckily the process was only slowed down by a few days. Our casting appointment is on Monday(1/14)! Anyway, I slept like a rock last night knowing that everything was resolved. Thanks for your input! Any advice about the casting appt day? > > > > I am in Charlotte,NC and have decided to go with Hanger Prosthetics > and > > Orthotics,Inc. over Cranial Technologies,Inc. Guest guest
Hi...I am also in Charlotte, NC and my son has been in a DOC band for 10 weeks. I think you'll be glad you made the decision to go with CT. The staff is great. We are fortunate to have a CT location right here. I believe quite a few people travel (even fly) to Charlotte to see their therapists. Who did your first consultation? We are working with , but did our casting. The casting only lasted about 10-12 minutes. My son wasn't very happy for the majority of it, but as soon as they were finished he was fine. A bottle and pacifier helped a little. It really wasn't that bad at all. His plagio was severe (20 mm) and we've already noticed a huge improvement. The bossing on his forehead is completely gone and his asymmetry has improved a great deal. There is a possibility he may have to get a second band, but even if he does it's been well worth it. Good luck on casting day...everything will go well.
