Typically you would take your child to see a plastic surgeon or

a cranial facial specialist. I’ve also heard of some people seeing

a neurologist. A lot of times where you go is dictated by your insurance

plan but since that is not your case you can see any of the above mentioned

specialist. You can also take your daughter to a local band provider for

an evaluation. To see if you have anyone near you, you can check the

different band makers websites:

Cranial Technologies – Doc Band

http://www.cranialtech.com/ClinicLocations/index.html

Orthomerica – STARband

http://www.orthomerica.com/technology/scan_locations.htm

Hanger – Hanger Band

http://www.hanger.com/interconnect/scripts/mqinterconnect.exe?screen=find

(keep in mind that not all Hanger facilities provide bands)

Also, you can post here where you are located and someone may

know of a local provider near you.

Subject: [sPAM] New to this Group and Plagiocephaly

HI!!! I am very afraid that my daughter might

have Plagio. At her

2mos 'well baby' visit the Ped said 'it's not too bad' and left it at

that. Now she is almost 4mos and I think it REALLY needs to be

evaluated by a Specialist. My insurance does not require referrals,

so I am going to take her to see someone regardless of what the Ped

says - Mom's always know, right??

What type of Specialist should I be looking for? Is it Pediatric

Neurology? I am already so confused about " who " she should be seeing

-

I am so anxious about this and am so afraid we're somehow to blame

for this happening to her, although even at birth her right ear seemed

a little " off " - which is still the issue now - plus now the back of

her head is pretty flat too. UGH - the stress. My son had 'none' of

these problems, but I still feel so guilty that I've done something

wrong.

ANY help anyone here can give me would be GREATLY GREATLY APPRECIATED.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
