Guest guest
HI!!! I am very afraid that my daughter might have Plagio. At her 2mos 'well baby' visit the Ped said 'it's not too bad' and left it at that. Now she is almost 4mos and I think it REALLY needs to be evaluated by a Specialist. My insurance does not require referrals, so I am going to take her to see someone regardless of what the Ped says - Mom's always know, right?? What type of Specialist should I be looking for? Is it Pediatric Neurology? I am already so confused about " who " she should be seeing - I am so anxious about this and am so afraid we're somehow to blame for this happening to her, although even at birth her right ear seemed a little " off " - which is still the issue now - plus now the back of her head is pretty flat too. UGH - the stress. My son had 'none' of these problems, but I still feel so guilty that I've done something wrong. ANY help anyone here can give me would be GREATLY GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
Guest guest
this sounds so much like the experience i've been through! at my daughter's 2 mo check-up, it was noticed, but ped said it wasn't bad. At 4 mos, not better and I began aggressive repositioning. yes, mom's know. trust yourself. i took my daughter to CT for an eval, went to a neurosurgeon to rule out craniosyntosis sp?, and began cranial sacral therapy. she is not banded, repositioning is working for us. my older daughter did not have any issues, my baby has tort and plagio. she grew too big in me, and also had shoulder dystocia at birth. i have struggled a lot with guilt and wondering what i could have done. please email me offline if you want to chat more. Guest guest
Hello and welcome to the group. Your sitution sounds like ours. At 2 mo we were told " don't worry " at 4 mo she said " well I think it is okay, but I'll refer you just in case " (my daughter's head was considered severe brachy). we saw a cranio facial plastic surgeon - who dealt with plagio/brachy a lot. I've heard plastic surgeons are more open to banding that neurosurgeons (who sometimes just want to rule out premature fusion of the skull). Let us know what happens next. -christine sydney 2 yrs starband grad > > HI!!! I am very afraid that my daughter might have Plagio. Guest guest
We went to CT and had them fax over their measurements to our ped. Then based on that, I called our ped. and said that we really wanted to band and that CT faxed over measurements. He wrote the prescription to band that day. We didn't see any other 'specialist.' I completely trusted CT's input and was fine with not seeing a neurosurgeon or another doctor. Good luck. > > > > HI!!! I am very afraid that my daughter might have Plagio.
