Guest guest
In 2 mo you should definitely see change. What kind of helmet is it, and where are you going (which office)? Is the ortho experienced? Has your daughter's head grown (the circumference is measured with a tape measure around the head). What does the ortho say about the lack of change - I would definitely be asking him/her. One possibility is getting a new helmet, since this one isn't working. But then you have to decide if you go with this ortho/helmet provider again, or if there is another one you can use and see results. -christine sydney 2 yrs starband grad > > hi,I'm a confused mother now.My daught has taken the helmet therapy for > her plagiocephaly for 2 months.but there is no obvious change now.I do > everything the cliniqh told me to do.But there is still a flat spot on > her right head. Guest guest
hi,I'm just the mother. In fact, this is her 2nd helmet. The first one is " Clarren " ,it really does a poor work.So my ortho made the 2nd by his experience. He told me to take pictures for my daught's head. And he said the " change " can be seen from the before and after photos. While I studied M'head, I can't see so much changes. So I confused. And there has been no red spot should caused by the helmet for a month. What's the matter, the helmet or M'head?I will go back to check her head tomorrow. Guest guest
I cantact my ortho. He told me it is normal because my daught is 12 months, she grows slowly now and the result is not obvious. Is that true?? Anyone know? She began the therapy when 10 month old.
Guest guest
Is it a passive helmet (a basic plastic shell that the head grows into) or active helmet (plastic with a foam lining that is shaved out periodically to make room for the head to grow while holding pressure in the prominent areas)? I don't know anything about passive helmets, but my son was 17 months old when he started wearing his DocBand (active helmet) and we started seeing areas popping out after just one week. So I'm not sure why you're not seeing ANY improvement over 2 months. It MAY have something to do with whether it's a passive band, but even still, if your baby is growing and her head is growing (in circumference), you should be seeing SOME improvement. Where are you located and where are you getting your helmet from? Maybe someone can shed some light if they've been to the same ortho. Guest guest
The older the child, the less the results and they do grow at a slower rate. Are you seeing any change? Is your ortho remeasuring periodically? Has she grown in the last 2 months? If yes then you shoujld see positive change. If no, then you won't see any change. > > I cantact my ortho. He told me it is normal because my daught is 12 > months, she grows slowly now and the result is not obvious. Is that true?? > Anyone know? She began the therapy when 10 month old. >
Guest guest
I'm in China while my ortho is in Taiwan. My experience is different from all of you.People here can't be approved to go to Taiwan because of some political reason.I have tried a lot.So my ortho agreed to just made the helmet for me and told me how to adjust the helmet. There is no any ortho who can offer such therapy in China. So I can't ask any people here.I just like a blind in dark.It is a long and complex journey. Guest guest
This sounds like a really difficult situation. If you can get the helmet and continue on your own without the ortho then it must be a passive helmet (active would need to be adjusted monthly or more, and I don't think an ortho could let you do this on your own). Do you have any good pictures to compare from the starting point to now? Sometimes there is correction, but not as dramatic as you might want. Also looking at the head every day it is hard to see changes, so pictures help. Also if you aren't seeing an ortho I would want pictures just to make sure the head isn't getting worse. I wouldn't think this would happen with a passive band, but you want to make sure you're going in the right direction. I would try and take pics every 2 weeks, then after 4 more weeks if there isn't improvement stop using it. At 12 mo growth will be slower than with a younger baby, but the head is still growing. A passive band is usually better for a younger baby, but this sounds like the only option you have. -christine sydney 2 yrs starband grad > > I'm in China while my ortho is in Taiwan. My experience is different > from all of you.People here can't be approved to go to Taiwan because > of some political reason.I have tried a lot.So my ortho agreed to just > made the helmet for me and told me how to adjust the helmet. There is no > any ortho who can offer such therapy in China. So I can't ask any people > here.I just like a blind in dark.It is a long and complex journey. >
Guest guest
thank you christine,in fact,I have 2 helmet, the first one is " clarren " a passive one.the 2nd is a custome made helmet which need to be shave if it cause red spot on the head. The ortho offer me both of them and ask me to adjust them by myself.the " clarren " is poor work so I ordered the 2nd.Now the 2nd one is been wearing.I will take some picture and see the doctor today. And I can show you the pictures later.I just want to make sure what is the problem:the helmet, the head or my expectation? Guest guest
The Clarren helmet is a passive helmet so it works more slowly. It doesn't necessarily work poorly, it just works slower. What type of band is the one you are in now? Perhaps it is also a passive band and again, you won't see a lot of change at this age.
