I'm so sorry you are dealing with such fussiness. My children were

not like that and I still had days when I wanted to pull my hair

out, so I can't even imagine. I would say that if she's already

pretty fussy, I'm not sure that the helmet will make it much worse,

honestly. You've made it this far! A few months in the helmet should

almost be a piece of cake! But seriously, it's worth it. If you're

not happy with her head shape, I would do it. I didn't do it when I

should have, and I ended up banding my son late (17 months) and I

wouldn't recommend that to anyone. And you might as well do it now

when she IS fussy, because if you wait and she calms down, then do

it, she might revert back to being fussy and you'll really go crazy.

I know it seems torturous, but it will be worth it all when she has

a nice round head.

For the heat, if she's already really hot, they might be able to

drill some holes in the band to allow more air in. And she can just

wear a short-sleeved onesie and nothing else all summer. She'll be

low maintenence in the fashion department! :)

Good luck with your decision! Keep us posted!

May daughter wore her band may-oct with no problems. We are in SF

area so it isn't that hot, but we don't have A/C at home so it isn't

always that cool either. We actually had some record heat over 100

degrees with no A/C so that day I took her to the mall, and kept her

band off in the car.

Most of the time it wasn't bad, just cool the car before putting her

in. Keep her out of the sun etc. Our ortho told us that summer isn't

that bad, because kids don't get sick as much. In the cold & flu

season you have to take the band off more for fevers.

My daughter was always happy, but not a good sleeper - both stayed the

same after banding. We coslept and that worked for us. We still don't

get as much sleep as we would like, but it isn't bad either. I keep

telling my husband parents aren't supposed to sleep a lot.

I agree with as far as banding now while she is already

fussy. Hang in there. Hopefully, she is almost through this " colic

phase. " Could it be an allergy to formula or something in your diet

if breastfeeding, etc?

I live in AZ and had made the comment that I was so glad we were

banding in February and our ortho told us that they see more issues

in the spring/winter because people are outside so much where in the

summer it is SO hot that people stay in the cool a/c. As for

keeping her cool, do you live somewhere that you are outside a lot

during the summer? If not, then you should be okay. But maybe when

you go places cool the car off first, get an carseat icepack thing,

keep her lightly dressed, etc. Good luck. It should be fine.
