Are you getting a plain white helmet? I suggest only doing stickers. I

have heard some parents that have painted but the paint tends to chip

off after some time. With stickers you can change the look as often as

you'd like! The paper backed stickers will be much harder to get off

the helmet. The clear backed stickers or vellum stickers seem to work

the best. You can find stickers at any craft store, s, Joann's

or even look in our file's section I believe you will find some

websites there that sell stickers as well!

Have fun decorating!

I agree go with the stickers. I did airbrushing and my sons began to chip and peel on night one. First I actually covered the chipped areas with colorful bandaids but then we had so many chips it was not worth it. I would not do air brush because it chips. Hopefully my son did not eat any of the paint. Bad decision by us but it did look nice for a day or two! Tammy cathyl65 <cathyl65@...> wrote: Are you getting a plain white helmet? I was going to paint also but I've loved the stickers and am glad I

left it white. I've changed them for different seasons and once for a

special occasion so it would match her outfit :) I've found the best

stickers ironically at Target.

Hopefully you get this message before you do too much...I bought

plain acryllic paint at Hobby Lobby (delta ceramcoat is the brand)

along with a paint pen (the ones you shake with the metal ball

inside) a clear varnish (deco-art duraclear satin)and some regular

paint brushes and sponge brushes. I also bought a package of some

sticker letters and at Walmart I got a can of Kilz latex water-based

primer (of which I only used a very thin coat with a foam brush) The

primer really helped the paint to stick and stay on. A few coats of

paint (careful around the edges) some stickers on back and I added a

texans decal to the side (applied with superglue. I wrote their

names on the front with the paint pen and then applied several thin

coats of varnish to give it that finished look.

Be careful when cleaning with alcohol, as it will undo your work

very quickly...I was unaware and had to touch up my first paint job

only after a few weeks...Since then, what I've done to keep it nice

is to reapply a few layers of the varnish after I clean them about

every two weeks or so...Both boys have been banded for 2 mos and the

paint has yet to crack or peel...you can check them out under " Our

Plagio babies E " for Eli L or Our Plagio babies G " for Gage L...I

believe I put some labeled Eli and Gage...
