does anyone have experience with appealing to United Healthcare? I will be doing this as it is clearly stated that Durable Medical Equip is covered, as is other services that could incorporate the band. If nothing else, I want the money accounted for in our deductible for the year... thanks.

Thanks for your response. Good luck with the appeal. Keep me posted on the outcome.

I have Empire Plan New York, Blue Cross Blue Shield united Healthcare and they covered 2600 of it without an issue. Not sure why they are doing this to you. Did you have an neurologist note for medical necessity, did you send measurements from your banding office, also, did you get a pre approval. We did get a pre approval letter. Good luck and keep trying. We got pre approved and sent a 9 page packet with all our info the first time so they had it all when reviewing how much to cover. I believe IKA on this site has a letter she used to get her money from United Healthcare, look in the files section. Tammy

I have a dr RX and all of the documents from CT. I will call them back and appeal their decision if it is still exclusionary. Just a pain that they are not more helpful from the beginning especially with little kids. Thanks for your info and I will look up the letter you mentioned.
