Guest guest
Hello everyone, Jack graduate from his starband after 10 months. I know possible side effects of plagio could be jaw issues. Has anyone run into any problems or taken a child to a dentist with any problems? Jack is constantly shifting his lower jaw and grinding his teeth and I am just looking for answers. My ped suggested taking him to a dentist, I am in the process of looking for a group that just deals in children, our current is a family dental group and I dont feel comfortable taking Jack to see them. You all have been helpful in the past and looking forward to some words of wisdom. Thanks mom to Jack starband graduate Oct
Guest guest
Thanks for the repies, my older 2 do not have any jaw issue, even my sister was commiting on how Jacks jaw is completley different then his siblings. I think with jack I will always question things more than I did the other 2 only because I had to fight so hard to get his plagio diagnosed. > > Hello everyone, Jack graduate from his starband after 10 months. Guest guest
Hello, My 8 month old son is currently in a DOC Band. I recently started noticing that his jaw might not be aligned as well. I probably wouldn't have noticed on my own, but I was talking to another mom who had recently taken her son to a cranial sacral therapist for his jaw issues. Her son had mild plagio that was not treated with a helmet. At 17 months her son had excellent results with just a few treatments. She said his eyes realigned and his problems drinking from a sippy cup and straw were resolved. I just started communication with the therapist she was seeing (in the Cleveland, Ohio area) and I think I am going to start treatment. The therapist was very honest and said all children react to treatment differently and that results can be like watching grass grow. I also know that CST is pretty expensive and not covered by insurance. At any rate, I just wanted to let you know that CST might be an option in addition to seeing the dentist. When I spoke to my pediatrician about CST (initially just for additional head correction), she commented that they typically only refer infants that are having problems nursing. So, it makes sense that it should help with the jaw alignment issues. Thanks for posting this topic. If we start treatment I can post an update on the results. Guest guest
I know every pediatrician and their recommendations vary but our ped. recommends going to the dentist at 1 year. I actually took my son before that because he bumped his mouth on a cement coffee table...the dentist said they like to see kids at 1 year, 2 years, 3 and then every 6 months after that. I say all this to say, it may be worth taking him to the dentist now as he is close to a year. Good luck. PS: I specifically asked my dentist to recommend me to a good pediatric dentist. Maybe post your area and people can give you names of some good pediatric dentists. Oh one more thing, my son grinds his teeth but only when he is teething...I don't think for him it has to do with plagio but like you said plagio and jaw issues can go together. > > > > Hello everyone, Jack graduate from his starband after 10 months.
