We were just told that our daughter (9 1/2 wks) will need a cranial

band. Based on the postings I've seen on this board, we'll have our

work cut out for us getting United Healthcare to pay the claim. Our

pediatrician is writing a letter of medical necessity and has referred

us to a Neurosurgery/Head shape clinic in addition to Cranial

Technologies to back the need for this treatment. Anything else we

can do on the front end to increase the likelihood of approval?

Also, anyone else start treatment this early? Her evaluation is

tomorrow, so I'm guessing she'll be in the band by 3-3 1/2 mos.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

We also had United Healthcare and we were denied three times but I was

very persistent. My peditrician was great, she totally helped us

out. I made copies of articles that I found on line stating that doc

bands were not used as " cosmetic bands. " My pediatrician also talked

to the director of United Healthcare and I think that is the main

reason they paid for the band. You might ask your pediatrician to ask

to talk to the " director " of United Healthcare. Hope this info helps

out.
