Guest guest
At 23 mm of asymmetry your daughter has a severe case of plagio. The general guidelines are: normal 0-3 mm very mild <6 mm mild - 6-10 mm moderate - 10-15 mm severe - 15+ mm Did the ortho recommend getting a band? Hey Everyone, My 6 1/2 month old Nikki was diagnosed with plagio and left tort on Friday the 11th. I am semi concerned about the severity of her plagio. I am new to this, so forgive me when I try to explain this. It may be hard to understand. When the ortho measured her head he went from the left side of her forehead to the back right of her head and got a measurement of 12.2cm (the affected side). He then measured from the right side of her forehead to the back left of her head and got a measurement of 14.5 cm (non-affected side). This scares me because I hear people talking in millimeters and my daughter is asymmetrical by 2.3 cm which is 23mm. Is this okay? Has anyone dealt with this before? Thanks for your help Sam mother of Nikki (6.5 months)
Guest guest
I know I've seen some posts either here or on CT (in the past...when more people wrote on their site) with that amount of assymetry. I would think your daughter would need at least 2 bands (each costing approx. $3000) to get her within the " normal range. " I do think you can get good correction but the sooner you start the better. You may want to pay out of pocket (if you can) and then appeal insurance later. Good luck. lisa PS: If you have a CT near you, I highly recommend them. > > At 23 mm of asymmetry your daughter has a severe case of plagio.
