Guest guest
Thank you Ed, I had never heard it before. I will let you know how I am doing...PatED Ensley <ed_ensley@...> wrote: , with regard to the banding. If your liver has caused some of the blood vessels to become oversize they are in danger of bleeding, it's called veriicies. They actually put bands around sections of the oversize vessels and it causes them to drop away and become absorbed into your system. Mine have never come back so it has eliminated the danger of bleeding in the stomach and not knowing it. As to the tx, you'll just have to decide that with your doctor. One consolation is that if it becomes to much to deal with you can simply stop treatment....quite a few people do. Best to complete it if you can but, if not, well, so be it. Chat with you later, take care, and let me know how you are doing, okay. Ed Don't get soaked. Take a quick peek at the forecast with the Search weather shortcut. Guest guest
Hello, We went to the ortho yesterday and had the STARscan. It was a piece of cake!! We will be getting the helmet in 2 weeks. I am hoping for the best and if anyone has any advice for me please feel free to share. I know I have read some things that help like the foam mattress. But I can't remember anything else. Thanks ahead of time!!
Guest guest
Thanks I will stock up on those supplies. I am very anxious about how he will adjust to the band. How long did it take your son to adjust to wearing the band? We did order a StarBand with the firefighter bears. My husband picked it out. I am not that creative so one already decorated is fine with me!! You are right about wanted to get started. I am sure it will be here before I know it!! Thanks Again Dominic-17.6mm (Rt Plagio/getting banded 3/27) > > > > Hello, > > We went to the ortho yesterday and had the STARscan. It was a > > piece of cake!! Guest guest
I consider myself very lucky because my son adjusted almost immediately to the band, like he wasn't even wearing it. He wears a DocBand and I know the StarBand typically has a different and longer adjustment period than the Doc. We were told to do 3 hours on, 1 hour off for the first 2 days plus sleeping in it at night, then start 23 hours a day on day 3. But my son slept in it the first night without making a peep for 12 hours, and he didn't have any red spots, so by late afternoon on day 2, we just left it on him. The sweating did take some adjusting as far as what to dress him in. And occasionally I would take it off to wipe down his head and the band with a towel. But after about 7-8 days, his body temp evened out and we have very little sweating, if any, to deal with (it just depends on the weather and how hard he's playing). The band really started to smell after a while, but I found that after we got our first real adjustment (we had to wait 4 weeks for a big adjustment, they only shaved a tiny bit out at our 1-week check, and now we go every 3 weeks because of his age), the smell wasn't as bad, since they shave out some of the nasty parts. Plus the sweating decreases, so it's not nearly as bad now (but it's only been a week since the adjustment, so I'm sure it will start to stink up again by the time we're ready to go back for another!). Anyway, good luck again with everything! Please keep us posted!
