Guest guest
I am wondering how you get the bosses to understand the problems that people with diabetes face? I know they know about you have to eat every so often, though they don't seem to remember all the time (last night I got no lunch break or even a 10 minute break in 6 1/2 hours). I ended up with supper at midnight. I couldn't take my meds until then because they are supposed to be taken with food. The problems aren's with discrimination, but more a lack of understanding. One thing they don't understand about is the neuropathy. My feet can be hurting like crazy, along with my back and my arm, but we are not allowed to sit down to count unless we are counting something that is down at the floor level or close to it and we sit on the floor. We cannot use a chair or sit on out step-stools to ease any of the pain. The bosses just think we are wimps if we are hurting from anything. On the other hand, they have been pretty good at trying to accommodate the problems I have had since I have let them know of the diagnosis. Would it help if I picked up information from the Diabetes Expo on Neuropathy? I just looked up what they are going to have in Denver and they will be having info on advances in treatment, so I assume would have info on what it is. Guest guest
Darlene, I'd discuss the situation with your doctor and I can bet your doctor would write a medical note explaining how you need to eat on a regular basis. Also, your doctor may write a plan showing the need for accommodations for your neuropathy. A doctor's note must be complied with. I don't know how this may affect your work, it could, but please discuss your situation with your doctor. MissDaisy Mom to two special needs children and recently given the probable diagnosis of diabetes. Waiting for the A1C test to cnfirm the diagnosis. > > I am wondering how you get the bosses to understand the problems > that people with diabetes face?
