Hi everyone...I just thought I would introduce myself. I have been

lurking here since the end of 1999. The kindness and support here is

incredible. I can't believe how much info I have gotten from this

list. Thank you. I FINALLY made my appointment for a consultation

with Dr. Gagner for May 30. I am going to see if I could be moved

up, should there be a cancellation (I hope, I hope!). I am 32 years

old and have been married for almost 10 years. I have twin boys who

are almost 2 and I want to live to see them grow up and have a family

of their own someday. I don't even know how much I weigh at this

point because my doctor's scale only goes up to 350. As, I am sure

many of you have, I have been on diet after diet.. Starting with

Atkins at 7 years old, gelatin capsules at 8 years old, hypnosis, diet

pills, acupuncture, weight watchers, lean line, the rice diet, the

grapefruit diet....the list goes on and on. I was a fat baby too..

11 lbs 8 1/2 oz. The doctor told my mother I was twins...maybe I

would be half the size I am now if that were true! LOL Anyway, I am

sure that this surgery is the answer for me. I have been isolating

myself for years with this weight. I want a life and my dream is to

be able to take my boys to an amusement park and ride the rides

someday. Right now I get short of breath just walking to the car. I

do have a question and sorry for rambling on. :) I emailed Dr.

Gagner and he told me he only does the BPD/DS lap... I thought that

some patients could not have it done lap due to their size. I just

want to know if he will take one look at me and say, no way can it be

done lap. Will he refer me to someone else in his group to perform

the surgery open? Is there criteria for doing the surgery lap vs.

open? Also, I was wondering if anyone has had any luck with NJ Plus

approving the surgery? Thanks in advance.

Hugs,

, Snowed in in NJ :)

Hope to have the BPD/DS Lap with Dr Gagner
