Guest guest
, To quote Dr. of the Heart Scan Blog fame: " Wheat is among the most destructive components of the human diet, a food that is responsible for inflammatory disease, diabetes, heart disease, several forms of intestinal diseases, schizophrenia, bipolar illness, ADHD, behavioral outbursts in autistic children . . . just to name a few. " http://heartscanblog.blogspot.com/2010/05/blame-gluten.html Also see his blogs on wheat: http://heartscanblog.blogspot.com/search/label/Wheat Like you, I don't have celiac. And perhaps like you I was going into the early stages of metabolic syndrome. In my case, years of gluten exposure gave me severe arthritis, hypothyroidism, and high RT3. Going away from gluten almost eliminates the arthritis symptoms and has eliminated all of my metabolic syndrome problems. Unfortunately, I've been unable to heal from all of the damage caused by my gluten allergy, so, I still need the T3. Had I not tried the gluten elimination diet for a month, I'd be in very rough shape right now. Alan > I fear this may be off topi but I am quite desperate today and I will appreciate some advice. I am following the T3-only protocol, rT3 cleared two months ago or so and I am still trying to find my balance. Done lost of blood tests today, so we'll see. > I have been having slightly high fasting sugar readings (above 100) and I tried to do everything recomended for Type-2 diabetes. to lower insulin resistance, but nothing seems to work and I am comming to the realization that I actually may have LADA (latent autoimmune diabetes in adults), unfortunately everything fits with this diagnosis and I am testing for antibudies to be sure. > I feel very scared because I feel like autoimmune diseses are taking hold of my body (I also have hashimoto, of course) and I wonder if there is something I can do about it. > My doctor wants me on a diet free from gluten and dairy, he believes ( " he knows " are his words) this prevents the development of autoimmune disease. I do not have celiac disease (I went through every possible test, including the genetic ones) and no apparent problems with dairy, but he still believes these products are " toxic " to everyone. > I think he is building on the hypothesis that autoimmunity starst in the so called " leaky gut " which allows undigested food to cross the gut wall and get inside your body. This is believed to disrupt the normal functioning of the immune system. I have no idea if this hypothesis is at all validated scientificaly and if this diet really helps with autoimmune disease. > > I do not want to go through this restrictions unless there is some sort of scientific evidence behind it, but I don't even know were to start...
