Guest guest
Orthostatic hypotension is usually from low aldosterone. Have you had that checked? Extra salt water can help this sometimes though it won't last if your aldosterone is very low. Mine was only 4 <range <=21>, when it is really bad it is called salt wasting. You can take in salt all day and it doesn't matter because you just pee it out. I think this is the feeling of no oxygen that Ive been trying to explain. one bloodwork said my sodium was too high 147...and then a week later in the ER it was 139. Very confused as if sodium even helps it. Maybe its potassium that I should be focusing on...or perhaps more isocort, although I take 14 a day. Unfortunantly coffee helps it in the morning and wine helps it a bit at night.

Guest guest
Kitty, Yes I had it checked 2 times last year. One time it was 4, and the next it might have been a tiny higher. ...I know that is the problem..but what did you do for it? I tried floinef but felt too sick. I dont do well with any drugs at all. Up until now I have been just using extra salt and when I raised my isocort it seemed to help...but now I feel awful. Incapacitated..But recently my sodium was high then low, so Im worried to take salt. Sometimes it seems potassium helps..sometimes not. Can you tell me how you manage( I cant work and am now hurting financially)..and if it also feels like you are low oxygen alot? I want to know if I perhaps have a second problem.thank you Subject: Re: fainty ..cant stand othostatic hyoptensionTo: RT3_T3 Date: Saturday, May 15, 2010, 7:08 PM Orthostatic hypotension is usually from low aldosterone. Guest guest
Have you tried using Licorice? That can sometimes help with low aldosterone, which is probably causing the OH. I'm using it now and it does seem to help with the OH, but my electrolytes don't seem to be a problem for me despite the fact that my aldosterone was 4. --Steph > > > > Subject: Re: fainty ..cant stand othostatic hyoptension > To: RT3_T3 > Date: Saturday, May 15, 2010, 7:08 PM > > > > > > > > > > > > > Orthostatic hypotension is usually from low aldosterone. Guest guest
Sounds like you need florinef. How much did you start out with? You have to start very low, only 1/4 tab at a time and increase every 7-10 days. Isocort or any cortisol containing product will give you a tiny bit of mineralcorticoid effect <florinef is a mineralcorticoid> so you can feel better intially but usually that isn't enough for most people. I feel HORRIBLE without enough salt. I have to take 4-5 teaspoons of salt a day even with florinef! Before florinef I had a hard time holding onto salt so if I missed any I would get really bad low sodium symptoms. I didn't feel like low oxygen per say but would feel extremely fatigued, confused/angry, couldn't hold conversations, had to pee a lot, diarrhea, muscle/joint pain, dry skin/hair, pounding heart, bad orthostatic hypotension etc. I have also been told that aldosterone comes from progesterone. Mine was just tested and that is very low as well. Have you had your sex hormones checked? Some people can use licorice as in place of florinef but I never tried it. It can really raise BP and my aldo was to low for me to try to figure out herbs....
