Plants and 'thyroid function'

How do platns regulate cellular metabolism? The have mitocondria, so

I'd think would need T3 as a regultor.. But plants don't have thyroids

that I know of.. Do they have some specialized part that creates T4/3

out of the iodine they absorb, or I am wrong, and plant mitochonria

(and I assume those lower eukaryotes) somehow get by without it, or

have evolved a " back pathway " for activating the same things (which of

course is too slow for animals).
