The casting was not fun, but me being prepared for it helped,

because then I wasn't overly emotional about it, and my son couldn't

feed off my emotion. I had already seen pictures of it and knew what

was going to happen. I had my son's sippy cup and a treat for him

and he still didn't enjoy it, but we got through it because it was

necessary. I was there the whole time and in fact, had the hard task

of holding his arms down. But I just talked to him and sang to him

to try to keep him calm. The whole thing took 10 minutes and he

cried for most of it, and really towards the end, was getting angry

about it (he's older though, 17m, so he already has some strong

opinions about things!). But as soon as they took it off his head

and I was able to give him some big hugs, he calmed down. And the

bath afterwards really helped him forget the whole thing, since he

loves baths and we just made it fun. At CT, they apparently give you

the option to do an exit cast for comparison purposes. We will NOT

be doing that one, since it would really be for only my benefit, and

I wouldn't want him to go through that again. But babies adjust and

rebound very easily. It may be a tough 10 minutes, but when it's

over, give her some love, and she'll be just fine.
