That is one why I too, keep it very clean and use lidocaine 5% when i get a flare. I use the clobetasol as well, not for pain, but to control my flares. But, there are many times even without a flare or redness on the clitoris, that I have pain there. That is why I feel at this point it is nerve pain because it has been damaged. My pain goes from sticking ,stabbing to shocks and like someone is grinding glass there. It is extremely incapcitating.
