Guest guest
Dear List, Here I am again, I need some information. We were able to get 2 bottles of Bethanechol for my 12-year-old son who has been taking CLO and flax seed for more than 2 months now. We are doing the Megson protocol. Many of the conditions related to G-Alpha-protein defect are present in our family. (Color blindness, night-blindness, IBS, pseudo-parahypothyroidism etc.) My son is (relatively) GFCF for more than 4 months now, with a remarkable good effect. He is nonverbal, but said 2-word sentences, absolutely clearly and well pronounced, and in context, on 3 occasions in his life. I have a few questions regarding the use of Bethanechol, because we do not have any description of the medicine, just a few words on the bottle. The brand name is UROCARB (10 mg), made by HAMILTON, Australia. Each tablet *contains Bethanechol chloride U.S.P. 10 mg*. 1. What is U.S. P? 2. What dosage should I try with my son, who is weighing about 90 pounds? 3. Dr. Megson,s article (www.autism.com/ari) contains these sentences: > For these and other reasons I started the boy on cod liver oil (5,000 IU of > Vitamin A, given in 2500 IU/b.i.d.) and a gluten free diet. ... > > ... On lower daily doses of Urocholine (12.5 mg bid) along > with the Vitamin A, his language and social interactions have continued > to progress, albeit slowly. > What is b.i.d.? 4. The following sentence worries me a little in the Megson article: > (Urocholine) HAS MINIMAL CARDIAC EFFECT, > (is FDA approved, has been used safely in children since > the 1970’s for reflux,)... > Is that *minimal cardiac effect* a good effect or a bad effect? My son has some cardiac murmur, though he shows no other signs of any cardiac desease. (But his father and aunts all have inborn/?/ cardiac problems.) Another statement of the article (towards the end of it) rather makes me think that this effect is a beneficial one, but I may be completely wrong: > For many of these children, autism represents blocked neurotransmission > that can be reconnected. Correcting immunodysfunction and their > metabolic disorders will be important FOR PREVENTION OF FUTURE EARLY > HEART, endocrine and malignant DISORDERS of endothelial origin. > 5. I also would like to know what other medicines are contraindicated when somebody is taking Bethanechol? My son is taking : Haloperidol (Haldol) drops (32 drops a day), Seropram (citalopraminum bromatum, 20 mg/tablet, an SSRI; 1 or 1,5 tablet/day), and occasionally Seduxen (diazepam, 5 or 10 mg). And these supplements: Ca-Mg, C-vitamin, grapefruit-seed extract, CLO, flax seed and flax seed oil. Our ped does not know Bethanechol. Please help me, I am very impatient to try this. Or, if you cannot help, could you suggest me another mailing group where I could put all these questions more successfully? Please answer me privately because I am on nomail. Thank you!
