Guest guest
One of the differences is that ils does not reduce sound sensitivity. It may produce other benefits, but is not able to reduce sound sensitivity the way Berard AIT can. Another difference is the much higher number of listening hours required by ils to gain improvement.Ana Brushingham MBA, BCABA Berard Practitioner Subject: AIT berard and ILSTo: sList Date: Thursday, December 9, 2010, 2:47 PM HI Which is the main difference between this 2 programs? Guest guest
Helen, It is heavily marketed to OTs and designed to fit with their "style" of work. The listener is encouraged to move, which is what they like. In fact, if ils is used without movement, it is not as successful. That suggests to me that it is not able to stimulate the vestibular system as much as Berard stimulation, that, and the fact that it requires many more hours. I think they do get results, but it takes a lot more time (and maybe more money for the parents). But it still does not address the sound sensitivity. So, in my mind, Berard AIT is still more efficient and cost effective.Ana Brushingham MBA, BCABA, Berard Practitioner Subject: AIT berard and ILSTo: sList Date: Thursday, December 9, 2010, 2:47 PM HI Which is the main difference between this 2 programs?
