,

I have a foot bath soak and can see if an epsom salt soak would help

me at all; DH is all for anything that will help the pain.

As for the play therapy, my DH and I adopted 2 special needs kids

(fraternal twins, boy and girl, now 8.5 yrs old). He has MMR and full

FAS and an unspecified emotional disturbance; she has partial FAS

(more behavioral than anything, but much improved) and was dx'd with

RAD due to the severe neglect and abuse they suffered at the hands of

their bio mom until they were removed into care at age 5.5. For the

next year and half, they were in a foster home that catered to

sexually abused teens so they got basic care, but that was all. They

didn't get dx'd until they moved in with us on their 7th birthday and

our caseworker and my DH and I realized that there were " issues " .

Despite the issues, we felt that they had been " led " to us and that

we had the means and abilities to handle things. Of course, me going

out on medical disability NEVER figured into that *however* it has

been good in one aspect because he is not good at transitions so me

picking them up and dropping them off provides continuity. Plus no

daycare means no excessive noises, etc., which seems to send him far

far away.

I feel that the play therapy is helping my daughter. She and I have a

few issues; mostly because it was her bio mom who did all the abuse

and of course, when it comes down to it, I'm a mom who can handle

life (most days) so she has anger over that, I can take care of both

of them (even at my sickest, they are taken care of), their bio mom

couldn't......but my hospitalization in January really helped out too

because she realized just how much I loved her. As I told her, I

couldn't " have " her like a mommy normally would but she's no less my

daughter than the two sons I gave birth to and I will do what it

takes for her to get beyond the hell she experienced so we can have

that mother/daughter bond we should have.

Gosh that was long. Did it answer your question? My son has

developmental delays - he is about 5-6 on good days, 3-4 on bad days.

She is pretty much 8.5 all the time.
