Guest guest
You said it better than I did - something doesn't make sense here. Low selenium is widely recognized as unhealthful. " selenoenzymes are involved in...thyroid hormone metabolism " http://www.medicinalfoodnews.com/vol01/issue5/selenium What is rare (or rarely recognized) is the conversion problem. I already know I convert T4 into Reverse T3, and that selenium is an active participant in T4 conversion. That's where I'd have to monitor carefully - if selenium supplementation was making a bad conversion problem worse. This would not be a concern for anyone taking T3 only, but most people take either T4 or a T3/T4 combination, so any contributors to conversion problems would be worth watching out for. > > > > > > Can't find th einfo now but I read in a study that selenium is not only > > > needed for conversion of T4 to T3 but it is also needed in conversion of > > > T4 to RT3. Guest guest
Hi Kathleen: what a great idea. The worsening of one autoimmune attack has to contribute to the worsening of others. This would also explain why some (few) people do not show improvement on a gluten-free diet...the fundamental problem for them is not autoimmune, but something else. > > > > > > Can't find th einfo now but I read in a study that selenium is not only > > > needed for conversion of T4 to T3 but it is also needed in conversion of > > > T4 to RT3.
