Guest guest
Hi , In my opinion nobody should ever use the vaginal antifungals as they cause so many serious allergic reactions and really irritate the skin. Some people have reoccurring yeast infections for many years. It can be a terrible problem. If you have had more than just the two you are talking about, I would think your doctor would put you on a treatment plan for several months of taking diflucan. Unfortunately I don't think the docs have any idea what they are dealing with here. (and nobody is looking to find out as far as I can discern). If you ever take anitbiotics again asking the doc to prescribe diflucan to take during its use might be a good idea. It is pretty well known that these infections (overgrowths of bacteria/yeast) immigrate from the intestines to the vagina. Taking antibiotics helps to destroy the good bacteria and to further imbalance the flora of the intestines (and vagina). Your intestinal flora is all discombobulated. I think that practically everybody has Strep B in their bodies but for some reason only some of them become overgrown with it (infection). Certain kinds of lactobacillus they say will help control the yeast but only certain kinds. Culturelle is one kind that has the correct lactobacillis for yeast. I use lots of it. It has helped. It has not as yet solved the problem but I am gluten sensitive and the fact that gluten and candida cross react to each other may enter here as something that keeps it going out of control. I expect to take diflucan (if I can get it prescribed by a medical system that seems to not want to do so and think that one little diflucan is going to solve all my girly problems). UGH! I expect to take Culturelle all my life to try to control it. The docs as I say don't think candida problem are very important to all appearances. I am here to say they are dead wrong. If you have intestinal problems like diarrhea, constipation, or any other niggling health problems it would be a good idea to check them out to see if they could be contributing to the dysfunction of it all. Don't know if this helps or not. Arline Good evening to all, I hope you all are having a pain free day. This past Friday, I went to see my NP to get results from the vaginal culture she did the prior week. The results were positive for candida infection and that infuriated me because I had that 3 months ago an its back again. She prescribed me Gynazole because its a broad spectrum cream. Has anyone had any success with that or any dislikes? My doctor believes this infection was brought on by the 56 pills worth of Ampicillan I took for Group B Sterptococcus a little over a month ago. My question to you all is wouldn't I of got the infection right away and not over a month later? Is there anything besides Grapefruit Seed Extract and Acidophilus pills that would help get rid of this? I am at my wits end with all these darn infections within the last 7 months. If anyone has any helpful advice or suggestions, that would be great and I thank you in advance! __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Dear Sam: I have had the same results with the creams, the infections come back. I love diflucan. I took that stuff, knocked it out and it hasn't been back since! I'm taking septra, a sulfa anti-biotic for my acne and I haven't had problems with yeast, but then I'm not sexually active either. Good luck to you! Lu --- bayareaprincess23 wrote: > Good evening to all, I hope you all are having a > pain free day. Guest guest
In addition to the Diflucan, try going to a nutritionist or talking with a doctor about the anti-candida diet. That was the only thing that helped me permanently. IMHO, it was the stupid yeast infections and OTC treatments that caused the vv in the first place. I never realized before that what I was eating was causing me to have many infections in the first place. I'm also very sensitive to gluten and yeast. In addition, let's not forget that Diflucan can have some side effects. At any rate, the best approach (longest-lasting) seems to be three-pronged: 1. Diflucan, taken over a period of time 2. Probiotics, to restore the natural balance of your intestinal flora 3. The anti-candida diet. I really reccommend working with a nutritionist for this part as everyone reacts differently to certain kinds of foods (for example, I can't even eat too much sugar!) It had some great side effects for me, like getting my glucose in a normal range, cleaning up my liver which was in trouble, etc. As a further example, have you seen the yeast tests on the market? They use your vaginal pH to tell whether you have a yeast infection or something else. What you eat affects your pH as well. I'm pregnant now and can't take Diflucan, and since I had morning sickness, all I could really eat was crackers. Take a wild guess what happened. The diet really saved me. A final note, when you are prescribed antibiotics, explain your situation (this is a reiteration from the earlier posts.) If you can, you should always get a prescription of Diflucan to go along with the antibiotic. I've never run into a doctor that had a problem with this - must be a fairly common problem! Good luck. Guest guest
Hi: I've used Gynazole (once a week for 13 months) for chronic yeast. It works. I found it to be a little irritating in the morning, but it goes away in a few hours. What type of yeast did they say you had? Gynazole works on more strains of yeast then Diflucan. I also have chronic Group B. Strep. I am allergic to pennicillan so I can't get rid of it, even though I've tried many treatments. Did you get rid of the GBS?
