I'm lucky or unlucky that my fiance has been out of work and he picks up my boys and watches them until I get home. I'm hoping he gets a job soon, but as soon as he does, I'm out of luck.

Where in the world do I do with my child in the afternoon if I have to work??? He goes to norcrest elem. But they cannot accomodate him so he is bused to bright horizons in the united cerebral palsy program. Kids from 5-22 in the same class , all exceptionalites and quite upsetting and chaotic for my child. Does anyone know of any alternatives? What do working parents in broward do with their autistic children? I get a call every other day or so to get my child early because he is crying at aftercare. I would love some direction on this...thanks!!!

Jodi: was this the first time your son took VSL? That is an unusual reaction. He's not by chance on resperdal - that causes nose bleeds.

I was wondering if anyone has experienced their child having nosebleeds on VSL #3. My son takes it and just started having nosebleeds about 45 minutes after being on it.

also if you can get your son into the The Quest Center in Hollywood, fl they have an excellent after care program and your son will stay at that school until 12th grade. Subject: AftercareTo: sList Date: Tuesday, October 19, 2010, 5:22 PM

I'm confused...

Did the school district say (or your child's school rather) that they could NOT take your child?

I don't believe they can say that.

When my son started at his school, we were just told to give them a few days notice that we were going to place him in their afterschool program so they could accommodate him.

I am saddened that the home schools that have the clusters do not accommodate our kids. Its horrible and traumatic to bus our kids to other sites...there are more and more kids being diagnosed w autism and more and more clusters popping up. What does the school system expect for parents to do??? Most of us spend every last cent on services and do not have the luxury of a private babysitter. This seems like a huge problem. I was appalled that at the UCP they had all exceptionalites and all ages up to 22 ys old in the SAME class...no wonder my 9 year old is stressed out and crying. I would be too!!!!! My sons school said they cannot accommodate him and that I could have him bused to another school where they had the United Cerebral Palsy program. I don't see how the schools can do this to our kids.Sent via BlackBerry from T-MobileSender: sList Date: Thu, 21 Oct 2010 04:52:34 -0400To: <sList >ReplyTo: sList Subject: Re: Aftercare I'm confused...
