Thanks everyone for the responses. We decided to move forward with

the 2nd band. And luckily, insurance is going to cover most of it

so that is even better!

I know it is hard but I bet he will have a growth spurt soon.

We are deciding on whether or not to get a second band. Our son has

improved a great deal and is borderline mild/moderate after wearing

his DOC for 3 months.

The progress is as follows:

Cephalic Index: 87.58 to 81.9

Cranial Vault Asym: 20mm to 10

Skull Base Asym: 15mm to 8

We are pleased with the results and without looking at the

measurements think he looks great. However; I know many people band at

10 and 8 mm of asymmetry. He will still wear the current band for

another 2 weeks. I've posted photos under Before and After Louden 1,

2, 3 in the Plagio Babies L folder. Please let me know what you think.

Thanks so much for all your help! The group has been very helpful and

resourceful throughout the banding process.

Wow! What an improvement, and he does look great! You are lucky that he is still young enough to get another band if you want to. I only realy notice it in the ears. Do they think they can correct that? I know they say they are the last thing to correct. Kamistacihyde <shyde@...> wrote: We are deciding on whether or not to get a second band. I just uploaded a new photo study (Jake W. Before During and After in the Older

Plagio Kids folder). It's kind of hard to tell in the pictures, but his

measurements improved by about the same amount or better with the second band:

Traditional Cranial Vault: 15 -- 11 -- 5

Cranial Vault: 19 -- 10 -- 4

Skull Base: 15 -- 10 -- 6

I don't put a ton of stock in the numbers alone, but I think they at least

depict the amount of correction we got accurately, give or take a mm. And when I

compare his head molds, there are visable differences.

Of course every baby is different, and my son grows like a weed, so he may not

be the norm. But hope that helps some.

The OT at Cranial Tech thinks we won't see much change from 19 1/2 months -

24 months.  We still have 8 weeks to go...but time has gone by so fast with

great results....I'm thinking ahead a little.

wearing a second band.  Skye can graduate at 19 1/2 months and be finished

before it it warms up here in Nashville or we can keep flying to Chicago every 3

weeks and pay another $2000 for another band and wear it through summer.  Our

ortho doesnt think we'll see much change after 19 months and says she would stop

after this first band.  Would you guys agree or disagree with that?  Skye's not

a severe case, but any change is worth it in my opinion.
