Guest guest
I'm sorry and I will send postive thoughts your way. I do have a question for the group about this: > The words " treatable, not really curable " are what doctors have to say > when someone is stage 4; please remember that treatable means there are > options and it is possible to live with cancer. I thought that BC is not cured, so wouldn't a doctor say this to any women/man at any stage? Just curious and concerned because my doctor said these words to me and I'm 34, Stage 3A, 14/22 nodes positive, E/P-, her2+. Is this because I'm so close to stage IV? Thanks

Guest guest
Hi , First off, I'm not a doctor or medical professional, but I've sure done alot of reading! I think you're right in that some doctors may never use the word 'cured', regardless of your stage, because they are being conservative. They may call you a survivor, and showing NED, but may not want to use the 'cure' word. Some doctors will wait till you've had x number of years without recurrence to say you're cured. I am stage one (also er/pr-, her2+) and my onc. has not used the word 'cure', but talks in terms of no recurrences. I think that once we're diagnosed, we'll always live with bc in some way. For some of us, it may be with ongoing treatments; others of us may think of it occasionally or at our checkups. -
Guest guest
, It would be impossible for the dr ro know if you are cured or not. He cannot see into the future. I had friends that had much better odds than mine that are gone. I was given a 60% chance of reoccurance and its 16yrs and I am still doing fine. Just take it one day at a time. Don't worry about tomorrow. Enjoy today. Noone has any guarantees. I will keep you in my prayers.
