> I stopped taking the Cortisol two weeks ago. I crashed taking just the

cortisol alone,

One likely reason you crashed from taking the cortisol alone was your low dose.

In most people, when you take too little cortisol (HC), as I said, you end upn

with even lower cortisol than you started with due to the feedback loop with the

HPA axis. This may not happen to everyone, but in most people it does happen.

That is why the adrenal mods now suggest to start at 20 immediately if you need

HC. I don't KNOW if you need HC because I am don't know your cortisol saliva

results. If you have them, you should post them to the adrenal group as they can

tell you how to dose in such a way as to actually feel BETTER on HC! :-)

>and had labwork done that showed hi RT3 I am tking 10 mg of T3 right now

wihtout cortisol. I am fearful that i will not be able to ramp up to optimal

dose of T3 due to my low ferrintin.

That's true; you probably won't be able to. It might be best to just stop the t3

and try to get ferritin up to at least 50 before trying again. Taking this tiny

dose of 10 t3 too long puts you in same boat as taking too little HC -- your

body senses the oral t3 and decreases your own thyroid production. You end up

with less t3 than before you started and feel worse. Frustrating I knnow.

> I am thinking of asking for iron injections, because my stomach is in such bad

shape. I think that the Slow release Cortisol I took for 5 months damaged my

stomach....along with recently finding out I am gluten intolerant.

Ah, if you are gluten intolerant, you need to fix that first as your adrenals

will be in bad shape from it AND you may not absorb either your meds or the iron

well. And having extra adrenals stress will really much things up trying to get

onto t3.

I do not think the the low doses of cortisol can damage the stomach but everyone

is different. It may be that your stomach/intestines were just irritated from

gluten intolerance. Once they start to heal from that, I don't think you'll have

issues with HC bothering your stomach, although you may need to take it with

food.

Slippery elm and glutamine are good for helping to repair the damage to your

intestines from gluten damage.

If you can get iron IVs, that would be GREAT!

Thanks to both of you for sharing. I have low cortisol, low ferritin, so your

post helped me learn. Am on 15 mg Cortef per day. Rick had written that I

probably needed more - 15 is too low and could make me even lower. My ferritin

was only 29. Trying to get it higher. Have been taking the Blue Bonnet iron

bisglycinate for 3 weeks now. Doc switched me to 75 mcg synthroid with 75 mcg

Cytomel/T3 last week. Was previously on 150 mg. Erfa, but the pain in my feet

and hands was getting horrible. My RT3 was 19, but FT3/RT3 ratio was 18.5. This

weekend was horrible. Shaking, pulse of 130, heart palps.

I hope you feel better Cheree and Kathleen - thanks for the advice.
