Guest guest
Hi Chelle... I didn't know you had those freaky weird vision disturbances w. your eyes (with a migraine) ... Did you also have the horrible headache pain? You must have if you took meds and laid down in the dark. I'm so sorry to hear that and hope it's let up for you over time. I had/have that problem for the past year or so. (plus double vision, but that's another story) It was maybe 4-6 spells of those a month but lately has let up. It drove me nuts I kept thinking I was having little mini strokes or TIAs. Then it was finally diagnosed as Occular migraines... But I'm one of the lucky ones and have NO Pain at all... it lasts maybe half an hour and then goes away, but I just can't see through it if I happen to be out driving or reading a book or watching TV. DUH....What a royal pain but TG no pain with it. I can't imagine. *sigh* To see what it might look like, this is one the absolute best presentations I've seen. http://www.migraine-aura.org/content/e27891/index_en.html Be sure to watch it for a few minutes as the animation gets worse and worse.... that's just ''exactly'' how I see things when it happens and those are the auras connected to painless Migraines or the technical word is ''Scintillating Scotoma's''. Except mine are just in black & white and not the rainbow colors. Dee ~
Guest guest
Okay, so now I'm curious... How many of us also get some form of migraines in addition to our V-pain? And do they usually occur/flare together, or do you just happen to get both, but seperately? The more I learn, the more I really want to find a really good whole body doctor, rather than going to seperate specialists for each part. Because I do think many of my issues are somehow inter-related, but most doctor's I've seen just adress their individual piece. ~~
Guest guest
I was diagnosed with migraines..in February of this year and have had VVS for 1 year. The doctor told me they can be hormonal. I never had them before my VVS. Debbie wrote: Okay, so now I'm curious... How many of us also get some form of migraines in addition to our V-pain? Guest guest
I get those too. They used to be followed by a migraine headache but for the past ten years, no headaches. They start as a bright dot which gradually expands to a bright flickering horsehoe shaped aura on one side only. (right or left eye). When I was getting the headaches, after it expanded it would start to recede back to the bright dot and then disappear but since I have stopped getting the headache, it just expands as far as it can until I can't see it any more. The whole thing takes about 20 minutes. Your depiction was very similar but mine (like yours) are only in black and white like Photo #6 at http://imigraine.net/migraine/withaura.html Funny thing though, My last one with a headache occurred just before my vulvodynia hit me. I had a dentist appointment and went in although I had the headache and they gave me nitrous. The headache went away and since then my auras are not followed by a headache. Guest guest
Just my response , I never got those 'silent migraines' till years after the V pain and was well, but totally agree we all need a good GP or maybe an internist that works with the whole body. I'm fairly lucky with my GP.. and if he doesn't know, he's smart enough to send me off to a specialist. (Which I'd push for anyway. *grin*) Dee
