I have been concerned she is PCOS. I took her to the family doc to get a hormones test and of course my daughter didn't know when her period was, she never keeps track, but I am guessing the test was done about in the middle of her cycle.

This is what the results were:

Blood glucose 67 (she did not fast)

TSH .86

Hemoglobin 13.5

Folate serum 11.7

DHEA 120 mcg/dl (normal for females her age says 44-332) What a range!

Testosterone T 47 ng/dl (that is right in the middle of what they showed as normal)

ESTRADIOL pg/ml 75.9

LUTENIZING HM mIU/mL 8.8

From what I read on this....Her testosterone level is FINE, but her estrodial seems to be a bit low. Which makes sense, she does not have big breast for the size of her body, the hair on the chin, the belly fat, the acne, Doe this sound like her balance is off? She needs more estrodial to balance the testosterone..That is my guess.

AND OF course, the doc sent the info in the mail as I figured with no follow up. Which means that think she is FINE. BUT she is NOT. She is tired all of the time, has acne cyst, all her fat is in her belly, she has had weight problems her whole life.

Any comments? What do they do for a 17 year old? Seems the usually try and regulate women that age with birth control pills. UGH!
