Guest guest
Hi everybody! Yesterday I took my (nearly) 5 month old little girl Charlize back to the physio because I will still concerned about her flat spot (the physio said bring her back if I was at all concerned about her progress). Well my instinct proved right! We discussed the helmet option and I was absolutely horrified of the thought as I knew nothing about them let alone had ever seen one before! So I came home and got straight on the internet. I near cried at the sight of all these little bubbies in their helmets - they looked so cute! My physio had taken photos of Charlize's head and was going to put them on the computer to do the diagnosis as to whether she would need a helmet to correct her head shape. Well I rang her today and told her that my partner and I want to go ahead with the treatment regardless of what the computer says because the results I have seen on the net are remarkable. Also if the problem doesn't correct itself how can I look my little girl in the eyes and say I could have chosen to do something about it but I didnt. I know I'm going to no doubt have a week of tears once the process starts but I know my partner and I are doing the right thing. I'm scared of her being stared at and laughed at and am also scared at the reaction I will have at the people that do so because I'm not the sort of person to just walk away. I guess it will be a learning curve for myself as well. I wanted to join this group because I think the support will help majorly and am hoping to make some friends who will understand exactly how I'm feeling. Thanks for reading Love Anita
Guest guest
Hi Anita, welcome to the group. Banding is really intimidating at first, but not that big a deal once you get used to the idea and the change in your routine. Babies adjust remarkably well, and you often see progress quickly, which helps you appreciate the band. What kind of band will you be getting? Where do you live? The three main bands are DOCband (cranialtech.com), Starband (orthomerica.com) and Hanger. Of these cranial tech does only banding, so their staff is well trained. For star and hanger bands you want to make sure your ortho has good experience. some orthos do only banding, and some do many types of orthotics. Our starband ortho was very good and we had a great experience. My daughter got her band at 5 mo, and I would definitely recommend starting early. -christine sydney 2 yrs starband grad > > Hi everybody! > > Yesterday I took my (nearly) 5 month old little girl Charlize back to > the physio because I will still concerned about her flat spot (the > physio said bring her back if I was at all concerned about her > progress).
