I think this covers the basics: (maybe others can add or remove if they know better) VITAMIN B - 12.5 - 25 mg four times a day. Can split a " B-50 " or " B-100 " tablet VITAMIN C - 4 grams, one with each meal and one at bedtime. Can take up to 12 grams to reduce side-effects of chelation and oxidative damage cause by mercury. VITAMIN E - 1200iu or greater divided into smaller doses and taken throughout the day. VERY IMPORTANT. Vit. E is a potent anti-oxidant and will balance out the over-oxidizing effect of moving metals, and mercury in particular. Mercury causes oxidative damage wherever it goes and Vit. E and Vit. C help to repair it. Use natural Vit E (begins with a d- no a dl-) MAGNESIUM - in absorbable forms like citrate, malate, aspartate, or amino acid chelate - 50-100mg several times a day up to 750 mg and adjust lower if getting diarrhoea. Do not use Magnesium Oxide as it uses up stomach acid, especially important for those with weak adrenals. Magnesium is one of the supplements that poisoned people need a lot of. You can also take pharmaceutical grade Epsom Salts (Magnesium Sulphate) 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon 4 times a day (don't take Epsom salts at the same time as Calcium supplements) ZINC - 50 - 100 mg spread out during day (especially copper toxic people) FLAX OIL - 1 tablespoon per day, take some fish oils also. VITAMIN A - 5 RDA's per day. Can use the mercury-free fish oils to supply this. MOLYBDENUM 1000mcg per day. This is very important for 'copper toxic' people as molybdenum (along with zinc) prevents copper absorption. It is also important to use when using ALA as ALA reduces copper excretion in the bile. KIDNEY HERBS - especially with DMSA LIVER HERBS - especially with ALA MELATONIN if trouble sleeping. Not otherwise ACTIVATED CHARCOAL is used ONLY at time of amalgam removal. It only helps with current ingestion of toxins as is not to be taken regularly. EPSOM SALT BATHS are excellent to provide sulphate and can be done daily! SAUNAS are one of the quickest ways to bring the body burden of mercury down after stopping exposure. Avoid Far Infra-red saunas. An ALKALINE URINE is important for chelation until pH is 8 or more. According to Andy Cutler " The thiol based chelators will drop off some of the metals in the kidneys if the urine is too acidic " . You can test your morning pH. Guest guest
Hi Dean Thanks for writing a basic supplement summary. A couple of comments. On p 133 of AI for flax oil, it says 15-50 g. I usually say 1-2 T. Fish oil would be preferable as a source of omega 3 as long as it doesn't contain mercury and other contaminants. I *think* that Andy recommends flax oil because it is less expensive (and surely shouldn't be contaminated with mercury). In the autism mercury supplement file it says - essential fatty acids (fish or flax oil) 1-3 T. I'm not sure what you mean by kidney herbs? I'm also not sure what you mean by liver herbs. My understanding is that Andy recommends milk thistle extract. I'm not sure if there are others he recommends (maybe artichoke??). I think there are some he suggests to avoid (like dandelion), and I don't know why. Avoid Far Infra-red saunas. > > What is the difference in saunas --why not FIR saunas? You can find some of Andy's comments on sauna in the Files. It comes down to the fact that he has had lots of reports of people having significant increased symptoms with FIR sauna, and not with regular sauna. The source of the problems is partly the glues used in construction and other toxins present in the material, partly the heaters which cause the body to heat unevenly, and partly false advertising about the foregoing information by the companies that sell them. > > > An ALKALINE URINE is important for chelation until pH is 8 or more. > > > According to Andy Cutler " The thiol based chelators will drop off > > some of > > > the metals in the kidneys if the urine is too acidic " . If morning urine ph is alkaline (8-ish), > doesn't this mean the body is actually acidic --meaing alkalinity is > being excreted and acidity is being held in the body? Would someone > set me straight on this please? > As I understand it, Andy says in the Hair Test book that alkalinizing the urine is only necessary if you are chelating certain metals - cadmium, silver, and (I think) gold. These metals are more prone to be dropped in the kidneys causing damage. Alkalinizing the urine is meant to prevent this. This is distinct from the issue of alkalinizing the body by reducing intake of acid foods and taking more alkaline foods in an effort to get rid of acid wastes. --
