Guest guest
It is not wise to try to reduce adrenal support whne thyroid is not optimal. I would try increaising the Isocort for now. Once thyroid is optimal your needs will most liekly decrease but until then your adrneals are underr tremendous stress. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://faqhelp.webs.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/ > Hi Val, > > Thanks so much for the replies! > > No, I haven't done an iron panel, but since I started T3, I have stayed on half the dose of my iron (i.e. 100mg a day) just to make sure, so I don't think iron is the problem. > > I did a sodium test a month ago, and I it was 142. Having said that, I started taking salt about a week ago (just sprinkling it on my food) to try and get my BP up a bit, but now I'm thinking that my symptoms possibly started after I started using salt!! Could this be?? I have always been reluctant to take salt, as I take licorice for my lowish-normal aldosterone, and my BP went way up when I used to take salt and the licorice together. I did try a glass of salt water when my heart was pounding (and racing when I moved about), but it didnt help. I also increased my magnesium from 600mg to 800mg a day, but it also didn't seem to help. > > But the good news is that I didn't take my 6.25mcg dose before bed last night (so I only took 31.25mcg yesterday), and my heart racing and pounding has completely stopped, my throat is feeling much better (although still a bit tight) and my BP was up to 110/75 this morning. I also seem to have more energy!! Very weird. I'm guessing this is low cortisol which would shock me as my temps are so stable! > > But I will up my isocort - how should I increase? 6-3-3-1 perhaps? I am so worried to be this high on isocort due to the echinachea, but I don't have another option. I cannot find a doc who will prescribe HC in this country, and I am worried about using HC cream, as this country only has high concentrations, so I would have to accurately measure such a small amount > > But I was thinking, I have been on isocort for 6 months now, and I only had very mild adrenal fatigue to start with. What if I stayed at this dose of T3 and then decreased my isocort dose VERY slowly (perhaps one or 2 tabs a week), and perhaps see if my adrenal glands kick back in and start working on their own better?? Could I try this? I am still stumped at why Val, when I first posted my adrenal results, you said adaptogens and licorice should do it, but now I am taking SOOO many isocort now!!! Surely I am supressing my adrenals glands too much on this dose? > > Anyway, thanks SO much for the advice as always, Val! Much appreciated!!! > > >> >>> Hi there, >>> >>> I have now been on T3 for around 5 weeks (and 5-3-3-1 isocort for 6 months). My ferritin was 97 before starting and my average first-half-of-my-cycle temps were 36.8 and stable. >>> >>> I started on 12.5mcg twice a day and eventually got up to 50mcg a day (spread out 5 times a day). I had no problems raising except a couple days after I initially started (on 25mcg a day) I got heart palps so I decreased to 12.5mcg and was fine raising since then. >>> >>> But 3 days after raising from 43.75 to 50, my heart started pounding again badly, and I couldn't sleep at all. So I lowered my dose right down to 37.5mcg, but I'm still getting the heart pounding (and racing when I do anything like get up). I have also noticed for the past 3 or 4 weeks that my throat is very tight. My temps go up to average of 37 whenever I raise, but then a couple days later, drop to an average of around 36.9. >>> >>> This is all very scary for me and at the moment I just want to wean off the isocort and T3 because I am so worried I am doing myself harm, as I feel like my general condition is worse since starting T3 and isocort. I am still lethargic and can't lose weight - I lost 8 pounds on my first 10 days of being on T3..but haven't been able to lose anything since, eventhough I have been following a low GL diet. Having said that - usually if I dont sleep, I feel extremely bad all day, but I haven;t been feeling more lethargic than usual. >>> >>> But at the same time, I would like to raise again, but I am now worried about my throat and heart! Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks so much! I am 27yrs old and doing this all on my own! >>> >>> >>> >>> ------------------------------------ >>> >>> We are not medical professionals here, just patients sharing our experiences.
