Guest guest
You need to repost in adrenal group when it opens back up BUT in the meantime, temps bouncing around is low cortisol usually, not to mention your joint pain. Also, without cortisol, the t3 cannot get into the cells and that may be one reason you don't feel it so much. The other reason is that if you have high rt3, the t3 receptors are blocked and you may not feel much until they clear, which can take 12 weeks. You need to be CAREFUL because you will go hyper when the receptors clear. Also, you are setting yourself up for the t3 just pooling in the blood because it can't get into the cells which will cause even more issues, like terrible anxiety. In short, you need to post your saliva results on the adrenal group when they open next week. In the meantime, I personally wouldn't go up on t3, 150 is a pretty good size dose, and likely you WILL feel it once your iron gets up and you get on some HC. I would just stay where you are and keep taking the iron and then HC once the mods at the adrenal group tell you how much to take. Kathleen > > Hi. I am self-treating. It seems that I am doing this backwards. (Cash restraints) I am wondering why I can tolerate pretty high doses of cynomel with low ferritin (31) as it seems that others here cannot.I am taking 150 mcg spread into 3 doses of 60 mcg each. Here is the background. > After reading the posts and advice from Nick, we both concluded that mine is an RT3 problem due to taking a beta blocker for seizures and looking at my thyroid labs even though RT3 wasn't done. I was taking 10 grains of Thyroid S at the time and feeling crappy, low basal temps and a lot of joint pain. > > 2 weeks after starting cynomel, I was able to get my ferritin tested it was 31. I started taking Blue bonnet iron (6 caps @ 27 mg) > > 1 week ago, I got saliva tests back and my cortisol is pretty low. > I am waiting til the adrenal group opens til posting the results. > > My temps are low and bouncing around. I have a lot of joint pain. I just keep getting more concerned about what I am doing. I absolutely feel no different and think that I could double or triple cynomel and feel the same. Should I keep my dose the same? Raise it? Lower it? >

Your T3 dose is probably high enough to crash your adrenals I assume you meant 3 doses of 50mcg and that you are using 25mcg tablets. I would suggest dropping down to half that dose and taking it half a tablet at a time to start with so you go onto 6 doses, it's a faff to start with but your adrenals will thank you. I have a simple way of keeping track of the days doses, each morning I count out the number of tablets I am going to take that day and put them into an empty bottle, I take from that bottle through the day and it lets me keep track of what I have taken if I can't remember whether I took a dose. From there you may find your temperatures rise as your adrenals recover a little and can then go up by half a tablet at a time every 3 to 7 days. By going in " too much too soon " you have depleted cortisol too much to get the T3 into the cells and it will be building up in the blood. Remind me, how long have you been on T3 since you came off the 10 grains??? You will need more than the 75 I put in the previous mail (teach me to read properly) but probably not 150. Spreading it out will help you a lot as will getting that ferritin up. Nick
Guest guest
This is the beginning of week 9 for me. Right now, I am dosing at 7am, 11am, 3pm - 50mcg each. My pulse ranges in the high 70-low 80's. basal temps for the last 4 days (oops, taken orally) 97.4, 97.2, 97.8, 96.8.You are right, cortisol is on the low side. I will post on the adrenal group today. Please tell me what type of dosing should I change to. Is this what you call T3 pooling? Thank You so much, Pati > > > I was taking 10 grains of Thyroid S at the time and feeling crappy, low basal temps and a lot of joint pain. > > Remind me, how long have you been on T3 since you came off the 10 > grains??? > > You will need more than the 75 I put in the previous mail (teach me to > read properly) but probably not 150. > > Spreading it out will help you a lot as will getting that ferritin up. > > Nick >

Thank You so much, Pati 3 x 50 is very hard on your adrenals, with the amount of resistance you have had you are going to need to get a lot of T3 into you prior to clearance in order to stay functional. If you took a single 25mcg tablet every 3 hours that would start at 7am and end with a bed time dose at 10pm, take that last dose as you put the light out. A lot more than most people need but you are coming from a very similar place to me and it worked for me. Count out 6 tablets into an empty bottle and carry it round with you all day taking only from that, then you have a built in check if you have taken a dose. Seems a pain but you get used to it.
