I would think a blood to saliva correlation tests for sex hormones would be

more vital since that is the one I question the most being off. I haven't

had a thyroid blood test in years. I wonder if they are now required to do

it for some legal reason since if you don't submit blood or blood tests, you

can't do thyroid?

The testing papers were not clear as to whether you would get copies of both.

It sounded like it was an in-house correllation study of the thyroid saliva

panel vs serum.

For the serum portion, they requested that you get a serum sample drawn and

provided an extra saliva tube to be collected within 2 hours of the blood work.

What is the story about sex hormones on saliva tests? Are they suspected to

be higher on saliva tests than in blood tests?

My estrogen was off the wall high in my last saliva tests.

The only one I can speak to is progesterone which a lot of AF people are

saying is way off on their saliva labs. Mine keep showing super high which I

am not and that is without supplementation. I found out foods can throw it

off. Chocolate or anything with cocoa for example can throw progesterone

off. I think coffee can do the same...elevate sex hormones.

Then why do they give the option of a blood workup in the past

*year*? Dr. Lowe writes that TSH,T3,T4 can change within hours, and

isn't really all that constant from day to day either. And for

someone with thyroid problems, especially if they are being treated,

I'd think all three numbers could change a LOT.

Anyway, if saliva testing is better than blood because it measures

what is getting into cells and can thus detect cellular resistence..

Correlating blood and saliva results won't work for everyone - unless

they throw out the outliers.

What scares me is it looks like they themselves at Diagnos Techs do not

understand the difference in thyroid between blood and saliva!

don't charge as much as the endos) I'm wondering if I should get the

thyroid done AT ALL (and save $40), and just get antibody tests done

somewhere else, as those SHOULD show up in blood. And I'd need a new

panel, including RT3.

Jim you have needles and syringes can;t you take a vial of blood? I know

I sure can. But i ma sunding my last blood labs to them wiht my testing

I am doing today.
