Guest guest
The iodine could definitely increase your T3 since T3 is made up of iodine and tyrosine. Since I cannot tolerate thyroid meds right now I am going to try an iodine/tyrosine combo and see if it helps. Cheri -----Original Message----- Progesterone used to cause breast pain and tenderness but since I added Lugol's solution early last year my breast issues are gone. Speaking of Lugol's, my Free T3 was 2.9 (3/27/2006) with no Lugol's and went up to 3.7 (6/15/2007) several months after adding Lugol's. Until today I never knew either level was low but now I am wondering if the Lugol's helped my thyroid function? I wonder if maybe increasing my dose would help? I think my dose is equivalent to 25 mg twice a day. Thanks, Kathy .
Guest guest
Hi Cheri, How much tyrosine and iodine are you going to try? I have tried to use tyrosine in the past for mood (per Mood Cure by Ross) and I discovered that a typical 500 mg dose is way too much for me as it will make me very jittery. My powdered tyrosine makes it easer to take a smaller dose. I think I may add some in over the next few days to see if I notice any difference. I gave up on tyrosine in the past for mood because I found it too hard to find a helpful dose. Kathy > > The iodine could definitely increase your T3 since T3 is made up of iodine > and tyrosine. Guest guest
I am not sure, lol. I just ordered some so I will see. I imagine I will start out lower and see how it goes. Too bad they don't make a tyrosine/iodine combo patch. Cheri Re: iodine T3 Hi Cheri, How much tyrosine and iodine are you going to try? Guest guest
I really like the formula Dr. Teitelbaum " From Fatigued to Fantastic " has devised for thyroid support. It contains tyrosine as well as iodine and selenium and lots of other good stuff. It comes in a powder and you mix it with water and then the B complex is in a tablet and you take it with the rasberry flavored multi-mix. It's called " Energy Revitalization Formula " . Guest guest
I saw that as I use some of his other formula's but thought the amt. was too small. Do you think a person can use that instead of thyroid meds? Or more as an added support? Guest guest
I guess it depends on the degree of hypoT. Maybe someone who's thyroid function is just a little sluggish could get by on just this support, but not others. I will continue to use it for support and maybe be able to get by with less thyroid. Guest guest
Well, I have actually been using iodine for at least 6 years, both topically and in the form of sea veggies, namely kombu. I know some people with Hashis and hypothyroid have bad reactions. I am just the opposite. It always helps me. But then I am prone to goiters and throat swelling so I think I am just a person who is chronically deficient where others have attacks from adding it. A very individual thing I imagine. The main thing for me will be adding the tyrosine. I had used it for awhile but hadn't tracked results and it was before using HC.
