Guest guest
I thought you might find this of interest ... Prior to my current (new) endo, I went to a prestigious endo practice in Philadelphia. It was another useless appointment. I will say that my fear that disclosing I was on psych meds did have an impact. His most focused question was, " do you think that your depression has a lot to do with your fatigue " ? And thus, I was on the defensive. I knew I could not win. He also dispared the saliva tests, saying " we don't use these " Even thoogh I saw some studies that show the use of saliva and also show that they correlate with serum results. Finally, he told me concerning my low sex hormones that " if you are having a regualr period, there is nothing wrong with your endocrine system " . ( I mentioned this in an earlier post today) I did not bother to reply. Guest guest
Flowr, you have been through the ringer.......... The shrinks need shrinks. I'm very thankful for the good docs I have had. I think you win the award for the mose wacko docs. And, I admit, when my mom was on the right meds it was not bad, when she wasn't, well, lets just say I have a great therapist. kc in AZ

Guest guest
Too bad more don't do it today. You are right, it IS nothing new yet many push the other drugs and don't check thyroid. I had a good college friend who learned this the hard way when one of her suicidal patients called 2 years later to rip her a new one for not suggesting the thyroid needed to be checked. Guest guest
My endo told me my hair loss and all my hypo symptoms were not from hypo but because I was depressed. Yes, depression even causes pubic hair loss. First class idiot. I told her I was depressed because my thyroid wasn't working, not the other way around. All she wrote in her doctor's file was I was depressed. Ironically, I wasn't even that depressed back then. Turns out she is one of the worst endos in Tucson and rarely gets repeat business. I warn everyone about her because she was terrible on so many levels. When you request your lab results and such, also ask for copies of the doctors notes. It is important to know what they are saying about you and can interfere with care with the next docs. The one who sent me to my neurologist apparently wrote in bad stuff in my paperwork because the neurologist said that I wasn't crazy. Now, why would he think that to begin with? So as we talked it was clear she told him that. Well, he sided with me after examining me and doing some tests and wrote her a letter to test all the things I asked her to test to begin with and she refused. She was furious she sent me an angry letter. This same doc got mad at me when she tried to treat me like a moron and I said that cellular resistance and conversion problems could be my issue and talked about the T4 to T3 conversion. She was taken aback and silent for a bit, was surprised I knew that, then got mad and said " yes that could happen but that is not the case with you " or something to that effect. How would she know? She wouldn't even test free Ts and this was during my most hypo period. My TSH was good and that is all she cared about. She wouldn't even test for vitamin deficiencies and I was suffering from severe malnutrion and dehydration at the time. I had already had several addisonian crises (which I didn't know that is what they were at the time). Cheri -----Original Message----- I thought you might find this of interest ... Guest guest
Thanks for the sympathy KC. It's comforting to know others think the drs I have encountered are wackos! :-) > > Flowr, you have been through the ringer.......... Guest guest
I diagnosed myself and started treating but now my labs show the thyroid and adrenal disease. Actually, my labs showed the adrenal disease back nearly a decade ago but the idiots didn't know how to read them or were too lazy to check. Cheri -----Original Message----- Cheri: What a terrible story. Did you ever get a diagnosis? What ever happened to the terrible endo? He also told me that the reason I was having trouble tolerating the thyroid medicaition is that I may not be hypo after all, since my TSH used to diagnose me was not that high. He went on to say that if he gave thyroid hormone to people (in the health general population) they would have energy too and lose weight. I was just stunned. What a wacko, quack. .
