Well, sleep is also a problem here, but the last 3 nights I have only woken up

once, which is a huge improvement for me, at least.

I re-upped my HC at night to 5 mg. I increased my progesterone at night to a

double dose with cream.

I also added in the ENZYMATIC THERAPY - Fatigued to Fantastic! Revitalizing

Sleep Formula and 1 mg melatonin and 600 mg magnesium.

Plus I also do 37 mg. of cynomel as well.

Sometimes there is too much experimentation we have to do!!

My 2 cents,

Only once!! I'd be jumping up and down if that happened! :-)

I already do the melatonin and have for years. Extra PG doesn't help me sleep,

either. :-( I take tons of magnesium, although I tend to take it with dinner.

Maybe I should try it right before bed?

I guess I've tried no HC and now 2.5 HC, so maybe I need to try 5 like you do.

Or take another 2.5 the first time I wake up.

Egads, all this experimenting is a PITA.

Oh, forgot to ask you, Deb, but how much total t3 do you take?

I was taking 1/3 my total t3 at bed and no bedtime HC. Didn't sleep great but

not as awful as I am now. Since increasing the HC, my sleep at night has been

worse. Val thought I had high nighttime cortisol, though.

This is starting to make me think that the increase has lowered my nighttime

cortisol too much to handle the t3 at night. So maybe I DO need 5 at bedtime.

I wonder if taking my blood sugar when I wake would tell me anything. If it's

adrenaline rush waking me due to low cortisol, my BS would be highish.

Kathleen,

I take 125 or so T3.

Last night, after taking 5 mg HC, I had the wired feeling, which I think means

too much HC again at night, so I will cut back to 2.5 mg HC.

When I got the adrenaline rush, I would wake up with my heart pounding, or very

hungry all of a sudden.

This is all so complicated...Deb in MI

Well, I never wake up hungry. Usually it's just a sense of feeling sort of

wired, like I'm ready to jump up and get going. Last night, I took 2.5 at 3;30

am when I woke up and I did sleep a bit better the rest of the night. I still

woke every 2 hours but I felt calmer when I woke, if that makes any sense.

Lately, my heart has been pounding all day and night, very lightly, so it's hard

to tell. I am not sure if that is low cortisol or also low potassium as I've

been low carbing and extra HC tends to make my potassium go low, too. I have

supping potassium since yesterday. Seems to help a bit.

Ah, this is a loaded question! I take: Valarian, Passion Flower, melatonin,

Klonopin, theanine and GABA!!! I have taken all of these for years. Well, just

added the aminos as trying to get off the Klonopin.

I used to never take a bedtime dose until recently after I increased HC from

11.25 to 25 which included 2.5 at bed. I could actually feel myself low in

cortisol as I went to bed, so I do think I needed it. And that's when I started

not tolerating the bedtime dose of t3 very well, also, as I think the higher

daytime HC dosing lowered my night cortisol to where I couldn't tolerate the t3.

This sort of straightened out a bit after a few days (not as extreme low

cortisol symptoms while sleeping), but my sleep is still worse than before I

increased the HC.

The more I write, the more I think I need to take more HC at bed. I bet my

cortisol is so low at night that my ACTH is going into high gear and making me

wake up with high cortisol and/or adrenaline. Both of which would be fixed by

simply taking more HC at night.

I only hesitate because that will put me at 32.5 for the day. :-(( And we all

know how scared I am of HC! However, now that I think about it, I have never

slept well once once going over 20 mg HC and I wonder if it was because I never

took a bedtime dose and I need it?

Maybe stop taking the melatonin? That can significantly lower cortisol. I know I can't take it. I had to stop taking a bedtime dose of HC. I would feel really jumpy from it. I still don't sleep well but can actually fall asleep without wanting to kill people! Now I think my hormones are to blame...I sweat ALL NIGHT... really gross :(

That's probably a good suggestion. I am just so attached to my " sleepy pills "

but you're right that it's probably not smart on my part to take something that

lowers cortisol if you have low cortisol!

I will try that tonight and see how it goes.

Thanks,

Kathleen

Lol about wanting to kill people. ;-) When I first increased the HC, I started

to not be able to fall asleep but that went away after I made some adjustments.

My ACTH really likes to go into overdrive. If I take enough around dinner, I am

very sleepy by the time we go to bed.

I hope you get some PG cream soon and get the sex hormones straightened out. I

really found PG cream helpful. I've been on it several years now. It got rid of

all my PMS! No more bloating around my period, either.

Do you have to take testosterone as well? What progesterone do you use? How much?

No problem. :-) I don't " feel " testosterone. But I think it is SO important for

bone health and I think it helps prevent insulin resistance as well. In fact, I

wonder if the reason some people on HC get bone loss is due to the fact that HC

lowers testoserone. (Yes, supra pharmacolical doses of HC -- which we are not

taking here -- also cause other issues related to calcium loss in urine, etc.,

etc.)

At any rate, I had a bunch of tests done when I was taking higher doses of HC

and the doc begrudgingly admitted I was not losing bone or anything else going

on bad related to the HC. :-) BUT it did lower my testosterone and that prevents

you from FORMING bone. And my bone density was not as good as it should be. It

could be because I am small and may never have acheived good bone density when I

was younger, but at any rate, I went on the testosterone straight away!!
