Guest guest
Hi Wayne, I first started on SRT3 and SRHC. I later found that is was not the combination that would help clear my receptors and support my adrenals. I think that I did SRT3 for six months getting up to 162mcg SRT3 before I realized that I needed to make the change to straight T3 - Cytomel. Once I did this I ended up backing way down from 150mcg to 87.5mcg of Cytomel from the 162mcg of SRT3. The SR is sooo much weaker. I continued to have problems while on the SRHC and with Val's help determined that the timing of the slow release of HC was way off what a normal pattern of cortisol levels should follow. After going on Cytomel and regular HC I was able to stabilize within several weeks. I would not recommend SR compounded T3 or HC. I feel like I wasted precious time following my Dr'.s recommendation rather than using the prime medications to help the adenals and clear the receptors of the RT3....As well as following Val's recommendations from the beginning. Sorry.... but I hope this helps. Cindy Hi Kat Thank you for your detailed input. It is helpful to know.As you are at 11 weeks are you on the verge of clearing RT3 do you think? What difference has this treatment made to your original symptoms? Once you clear RT3 do you think that you will be able to reduce or possibly eventually eliminate SRT3 dosing?Any other forum members have comments either good or bad on the SRT3 approach?Regards > >> > My compounding pharamicist has recommended using 10 mcg capsules morning and night for 1 month and then adjusting from there according to symptons. What is the general feeling on this forum of this approach? I am working on raising my iron ferittin levels up before I am in a position to start what ever regime I am going to start so I am just trying to work out my next step in this process.> >> > > I have been using compounded SRT3 for 11 weeks. I started on 10mcg (my ferritin was 50 by this time) twice a day. This is quite a small dose of SRt3 which is not nearly as potent as straight T3. I moved up to 10mcg three times a day after a week as dosing SRT3 seems to work better for a lot of people three times a day. This worked for me but everyone is different. I then increased each dose by 10mcg at weekly intervals.> So my regimen looked a bit like this:> 10, 10> 10, 10, 10> 20, 10, 10> 20, 20, 10> 20, 20, 20> etc.> > Now I am 40, 30, 30> Sometimes if I felt good I would increase after 5 days and other times I would wait longer than a week. Guest guest
Hi Wayne, My hope was to possibly save you the time. I started at 37.5mcg's and slowly slowly worked my way up. My Dr. was so set on the compounded meds and truly I got no where even up at the high 162.5 and I think that I even took it up to 175mcg for awhile and just could not get the temps to go up. After convincing her that I needed Cytomel I would say within a very short time my temps starting responding and I had to start coming down on my dose. Being that I was already high on the SRT3 I started the Cytomel dose around 145mcg and quickly found that I needed to decrease. I kept having to decrease and finally settled in around 87.5 - 92.5mcg's. That's a significant difference from that 162.5 - 175 mcg dose of SRT3. I would say that I was on the SR for six months and then once I switched to Cytomel it was a matter of weeks that I felt the receptors clearing and the temps starting to rise. I know everyone is different but if you find that you are struggling on the SR trying to reach a breakthrough this may be the reason why....and can save a ton of time. Look how much time I wasted!! Again, hope this helps! Cindy Subject: Re: Slow release T3To: RT3_T3 Date: Wednesday, June 23, 2010, 1:58 AM Hi CindyThank you for your input. Yes this information helps a lot. It might just have saved me a lot of time and needless angst.Much apprecaiated, hope all is fine with you now. Out of interest did you finally clear RT3 from the receptors and does this then allow you to reduce your T3 dosage going forward?RegardsWayne> > >> > > My compounding pharamicist has recommended using 10 mcg capsules morning and night for 1 month and then adjusting from there according to symptons. Guest guest
Wayne, you are so very welcome! I wish you well and hope for the very best in your healing process!! We are certainly in this together. Cindy Subject: Re: Slow release T3To: RT3_T3 Date: Wednesday, June 23, 2010, 9:52 PM Cindy, that's a lot of useful information when one is considering SRT3. Yes everyone is different so we all have to plot our own course but with as much info as we can gather. You have been most helpful in this endeavour and I thank you.Kind regardsWayne> > > >> > > > My compounding pharamicist has recommended using 10 mcg capsules morning and night for 1 month and then adjusting from there according to symptons.
