Guest guest
Fresh Fruit (mixed) with some herbal tea and honey and toast Pancakes and fresh fruit - Pure Honey and herbal tea Eggs/meat choice with some fresh fruit and herbal tea with honey those all work well but I am not sure what celiac disease is. None of the above have any calcium but I would be careful and get advice because if your not getting any calcium you risk bone problems Deana :-) Janis wrote: > > After an hour taking my thyroxine im always in a stump what to eat for > breakfast. Guest guest
Hi Janis, You could make a smoothie with frozen/fresh fruit, pure fruit juice and yoghurt (I know that is calcium) but as long as you only use enough smoothie to moisten the cereal it won't be that much. The other thing that you could do is just not use it. I have a smoothie on my muslix type cereal most mornings and until now I hated cereal for breakfast, it used to be a night time snack. Guest guest
OMG Deana please tell me that your Husband didnt believe that Doctor? Celiac Spruce is Celiac Disease......same thing. There is NOOOOOOOOOOOOO CURE for it other than sticking to a Gluten Free diet free of WHEAT, BARLEY and OATS. Once on the diet you may begin to feel healed which you probably are after being on it for awhile but as soon as you eat a scrap of them forbidden foods the problems will return. I know alot about it as Ive followed the diet for 2 years. My father had it and now myself and my Diabetic Daughter has it too. Looking back at my post I realized that I confused my question....damn thyroid LOL What I was trying to say is.......... What foods can I eat for breakfast that wont conflict with my Thyroid medicine. I read that consuming calcium a couple of hours after taking your thyroid medicine will cause me problems. Calcium should be taken 4 - 5hrs after you have taken your Thyroid meds........am I right?? Thats why I was avoiding milk with my cereal. Sorry for the confusion . Thanks for your reply Janis (land) Diagnosed with Hashimoto Get your email and more, right on the new Yahoo.com

Guest guest
My endo said she could just compensate for my taking calcium by tweaking my dosage of thyroid meds and seeing how it's going through blood work....I HAVE to take the calcium about 2000mgs in 500mg doses throughout the day to ward off osteo problems. I typically have a protein shake with 500mg of calcium citrate, D, and mag in it for breakfast and she told me to continue as normal...the shake is typically 2 hours after the levoxyl... ____________________________ in *mild* Jerseyopen proximal rny 9/18/015'9", 31yo297/

Unfortunately not everyone with a thyroid disorder only has a thyroid disorder, and other issues also need to be addressed..it becomes a balancing act and a bit of give and take to what your body needs. For you especially knowing you are going to have interference with labs make sure you do skip meds before labs. Kats3boys

Guest guest
Hi Janis... A comment on Calcium and Thyroid .... yes... you need to avoid taking a lot of calcium within that four hour window of taking your thyroid dose.. but for common things, like having milk on your cereal and such... you can still do it.. .in moderation... as long as you keep things consistent. The key point is that if you have milk and cereal in the morning that you just do it pretty consistently every day.... and then, as your blood levels are tested and meds adjusted it will all be with that 'base line' of having that amount of calcium/milk consistently, daily. It will cause your body to get less hormone from your dose.... but you will be taking more, most likely, as your blood levels show the change... This is all pretty dependant on a doc that is responsible with his/her care.. taking the correct labs (not just TSH) and interpreting the results correctly (not just settling for 'in normal range' and calling it good) and that attention is also paid to your symptoms. Calcium is something that we very much need.. along with defunct thyroid glands we are also often dealing with parathyroids that aren't working up to snuff either... and low functioning parathyroids leave is having problems with utilizing calcium properly.... As for my breakfast.... I am a 'mini mealer' and usually make up my meals for two or three days at a time, and often eat the same meal several times in a row... more often than not breakfast for me is the same meal that I've had several times over several days.. this weekend, for example... I set up two batches of meals.. one was a chicken rice soup and the other was a concoction I came up with that is a variation of biscuits and gravy... it has a baking powder biscuit as the 'base' and the 'gravy' is a gravy that has turkey burger and rice in it.... it's actually quite good and reduces the biscuit portion of the meal..... I hope that sparks your imagination for how to make a breakfast work with all the great considerations that we have! hehehehe Topper () On Fri, 15 Sep 2006 14:24:27 -0000 " Janis " writes: > > After an hour taking my thyroxine im always in a stump what to eat > for > breakfast.
