Guest guest
....and some of the summer camps do not have information available in January, rather around this time in April. Some of them do not display and categorize all information that it is need it for parents to choose according to each child needs. I am searching for my son but it is difficult to find it since each camp is different in prices, requirements, needs, distance from home, etcI do not see much flexibility for accommodations in some cases. I also see some of them trying to make money or they are very selected. They even ask if the child is high functioning, toilet trained, aggressive to start considering to call you back and give you a PRICE and more information....I understand the business but I also understand ethics and how you do it. With compassion, service to the community, to the parents and specially to special children!!!!!Jeannette Suarez To: sList Sent: Friday, March 23, 2012 1:35 PM Subject: Re: Camps I usually start looking at this time. Guest guest
Based on my experiences, even though they SAY they are a camp for "special needs" most of them DO NOT have QUALIFIED, EXPERIENCED staff to work with our children. You WILL be disappointed, especially after they call you to tell you to come pick up your child because of his "behaviors". I've been told that their camps are a "recreational camp" and not a "therapeutic camp", therefore they do have or require trained staff. Most of the staff is just looking for a summer job and have NEVER even worked with our children before. I, as well as some other families I know, have had their children removed from summer camps (and school, but that's another story for another day!) due to their "behaviors", which incidently, are due to their "special needs". Go Figure!!!!Subject: Re: CampsTo: "sList " <sList >Date: Thursday, March 29, 2012, 9:56 AM ....and some of the summer camps do not have information available in January, rather around this time in April.
