Announcement From The Florida Developmental Disabilities Council For more information, please contact Anne C. Sommers National Council on Disability (NCD) 1331 F Street, NW, Suite 850 * Washington, DC 20004 Voice* TTY Fax or http://www.ncd.gov Website Dear Florida Disability Community Leaders: Greetings from the National Council on Disability (NCD), an independent federal agency based in Washington, D.C., whose mission is to provide advice to the President, the U.S. Congress, and other federal agencies on public policies, programs, practices, and procedures that affect people with disabilities. I am writing today to make you aware of a brief, in-person opportunity to address several of the Presidentially-appointed, Senate-confirmed members of the agency at an upcoming "town hall" hour. Several Council Members of NCD will be in Orlando early next week for a separate event and decided that although the time is tight, while in the area, they would like to connect with stakeholders who may be nearby. In order to be effective in its capacity as an advisor to the President, Congress, and other federal agencies, NCD relies upon frequent and timely input from its diverse stakeholders, including people with disabilities, parents or guardians of people with disabilities, groups and organizations representing a broad range of people with disabilities, and providers and administrators of services to people with disabilities. NCD welcomes its stakeholders to participate in the town hall hour as an opportunity to provide public consultation to the agency to help inform the work it does. A notice of this in-person opportunity is attached, complete with details pertaining to the location and times. Thanks to the wonderful assistance of the Central Florida Parent Center, the notice is also available in Spanish. We recognize that many of you live and work quite a distance away from Orlando and are unlikely to come to the in-person town hall, owing to distance as well as the brevity of the opportunity. However, there are numerous ways to share your thoughts with the agency, and we'd love to hear from your networks in some of these other ways if individuals cannot come in person: By Email - Anyone interested in providing public comment by email may send their thoughts via email to Lawrence -Long, NCD Public Affairs Specialist, at PublicComment@..., using the subject line of "Public Comment."
