ALA, what it turns into that chelates?

I am not sure it is in the AI book, but I know its not ALA that

chelates itself it is something else that turns into a chelating

agent. Does anybody remember what Andy calls it, I have seen it on

the archives on other sites but I can't remember. I am trying to

explain this to relevant people that are chelating so they know

exactly what they are doing instead of me telling them what they are

doing.
