TK--- it is very self defeating - smoking does so many harmful things, and yes it will affect chelating in a variety of ways. He has done well on the DMSA, but the ALA has knocked him badly with each attempt. > Could it be that the ALA carries metals into the brain while smoking cigarettes? > > Does anybody on this list smoke? > > Thanks, > Dean > >
Guest guest
I smoked for fifteen years until I got my amalgams out. I got a huge headache after every cigarette. I had to quit. I have one every week or so just to remind myself that they make me sick- ha ha. Anyone know why? About smoking being safe..... I totally disagree. Maybe if you smoke a chemical free tobacco with a chemical free paper and filter, but does that exist? The chemical additives that are used during cigarette manufacturing and even the pesticides used during tobacco growing CAN kill. Also, the state of Kentucky just passed legislation that requires all cigarettes sold in that state to contain a chemical that will extinguish the cigarette automatically - to prevent fires. (I guess fifteen people were killed in a house fire because of a cigarette.) Tobacco may not necessarily kill, but the cigarettes made today contain too many chemicals to call them safe - or good for you. It's quite complicated but I think the impulse/craving is both dopamine-related and an attempt to make up for lost adrenal function. I didn't have the experience of ALA causing problems; in fact, I felt nothing from chelating at all. I *really recommend buproprion for quitting smoking. And there's another drug out that's supposed to be very good as well. (Just hoping I never have the need to try that one. Nell
