Guest guest
Jim I have United Health Care and they covered my hip surgery with Dr Kennedy - Sarasota Florida. I " did nothing " . The office handled everything and all went just fine. I paid around 800 for hospital expenses they did not cover and some of the home help things like the raised toilet seat. Even tho I had a perscription . . they did not cover it . . . .I think to Apria I paid another 80. Who is your surgeon? Someone posted recently looking up your doctor on line. That's a good idea. I went online & also read my policy before my surgery to see what & who all was covered. I am not sure of the web'dress but I am sure you have it in you packet explaining your coverage. Go online . . .check it out. Then let the doctor's office handle everything else. You don't want to have any red flags on your account. Guest guest
Hi Jim, I have a PPO w. UHC with my company in Calif. Turned down first going thru JRI in Los Angeles (Dr. Schmalzried). I sent appeals for a year and didn't get coverage. They just kept saying that there was not enough peer reviewed literature and Trials. I pointed out to UHC that AETNA, Medicare now cover this proceedure. I also sent UK and Austrialia medical medical policies of approval. But to no avail. I couldn't wait and continue to be a " squeeky wheel " as I was fast loosing my chance at resurfacing. On October 22, 2003 I had a Right BHR surgery with Koen DeSmet. Good luck in your appeals. I do have appeal letters I can email for ideas. One is from a friend who did win his insurance appeal. Carol in CA RBHR 10-22-03 DeSmet > Subject: Insurance > > Has anyone out there had any experience with United > HealthCare, relative to coverage for hip replacement > and/or resurfacing. > Would appreciate any feedback, + or _. > > Thanks, Jim Mc. >
Guest guest
Thanks, Becky! That $10,000 would sure come in handy but methinks I'll have to jump through hoops to get it! I have a rheumatologist appointment this afternoon and I'm going to talk with him about it. -Anne > > > Hi all, > > Because I'm a single mum, I have quite a bit of " just-in-case " > > insurance.
