Guest guest
I never post and usually keep my opinions to myself but I really was blown away last night by one of the comments made by a contestant on Survivor. I had DVR the show and was watching while surfing the internet after my son was asleep. They do little 1 on 1 interviews during the shows and one of the contestants this year claims to be a special education teacher. When speaking about a contestant that she didnt care for actually had the nerve to say on camera for the world to see that " 's IQ is probably a 0, I don't even know if that exists. I mean I'm a special ed teacher, so ah I handle as 1 of my students, and she is going to do whatever we tell her to do. " I did a double take when I heard this and had to actually stop and rewind twice to make sure I heard her correctly. Sorry to vent but I am just so tired of people who have the attitude that because our kids are differently abled that they don't count or that they are stupid. I am so tired of our children being written off. I thought at first I was being a little over sensitive especially after hearing the footage that Stuart Chaifetz had posted yesterday with audio of his son being mistreated in a classroom by his teachers, but when I went to twitter and typed in her name it was a firestorm of comments. People were disgusted. I have to say I am sad that CBS did not choose to edit this comment as it had no bearing on the show yesterday. Maybe no one on their end caught it. The comment was hurtful and demeaning to all special needs students. When will people wake up and realize that words hurt?
Guest guest
Hi, I am a huge Survivor fan and I was horrified by that dope . I certainly hope the principal from her school and the parents were watching and that there are repurcussions. I posted last night on the Survivor Facebook page I was so annoyed and so did a lot of other folks. You are not alone! Anyone catch Survivor last night? Guest guest
I don't watch any of the so called reality shows. They say and do disgusting things and get paid alot of money for it. I have my own autism reality and we should create our own show - maybe we'll be able to bring in the money for treatment etc but then again - do you think they would really believe our true life reality? I am a free special education advocate and did not see it because I don’t watch those shows. What I have to say is I am not surprised. At IEP meetings and parent meetings I have witnessed school staff make remarks and they just get away with it. At least here they exposed themselves to the public and can’t say they did not say it. There are very few school staff who respect the children and their parents. I am only an e-mail away. D.
