Guest guest
I started chelation in January and worked my DMSA up to 50 mg before introducing ALA. I did this because: a) I strongly suspected mercury remaining in my body was concentrated in the brain, I'd been doing everything I could to clear Hg for two years, & c) because of extreme responses to even slightest amounts of ALA in the past. Last week my dosage went up to 12.5 mg ALA from 6 mg. For the first 2-3 days I thought it was working well, so I stayed on round an extra 2 days. However, I found myself going back to the book to see what the ALA symptoms were as defined by Andy. It was very enlightening because I now understand the 'brain' changes I was going through while I was getting more toxic & felt like quite the Mad Hatter. I extended DMSA another 2 full days after the ALA, sensing I'd freed up a lot of mercury. Since this became a 7 day round, I thought I needed to wait a full 7 days to start a round again, but I'm really, really dragging. Starting up DMSA brings a lot of energy back. Is it safe to start again after 5 days? I don't want to sound like I'm complaining about ALA; I realize I have to live through symptoms in order to chelate and don't want to take it so slow I'm doing this forever. My preference is to try to extend rounds to the extent I can, but is it better to keep ALA rounds short when it's really 'stirring up the pot'? Thanks, Joanne

I've recently been doing this too. > Is it safe to start again after 5 days? --seems to be safe for me but safety is the rule. I am currently recovering from an attempt to try just ALA for 5 days. By the 5th day symptoms of rage and fatigue became intolerable. A week later, I am just about functional again. Before that I was doing 5 day rounds of ALA and DMSA with 3 to 4 days break. I was doing real well both on and off round. Assuming it was time to up the dose, I just dropped the DMSA instead. Now I am eagerly awaiting my UPS delivery of DMSA. > Thanks, > Joanne >
