Guest guest
Everyone must understand that this accident was due to the fact that the particular chamber involved was old and outdated from the 60's with no safety mechanisms in place. It was an accident that should never had happened had the owners of this facility been more scrupulous about safety issues and staffing. All of those old style chambers were removed from this center. However, parents need to know that there is only one Hyperbaric center in Florida that is JCAHO accredited which means this center has the government medical accreditations as hospitals do,so there is always a medical doctor trained in Hyperbaric at all times on the premise. (http://hbotxofpalmbeach.com/) That was not the case with this particular facility. There were a number of errors that should never had happened that created the perfect storm situation. This hyperbaric center was started in the 1960's by the very famous doctor, Dr. Neubauer, who is known to be the grandfather of Hyperbaric Oxygen. However, he passed away many years ago and his center was taken over by his two daughters. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/fl-hyperbaric-chamber-deaths-0426-20120425,0,4150470.storySent from my iPadOmayra Matamoros, MHSA, JD
